Hi All

I did once play warhammer many many many years ago and since defected to 40k for many years. I have to agree with friends in saying that 40k seems to be dumbing down year after year and might also start playing fantasy as well as 40k.

So all in all I might start fantasy and was wondering which faction to collect. I play Space Wolves and Orks mainly in 40k and like the look of vampire counts as an army. Good choice?

Cheers
Andy

Vampire Counts just got updated, so they're a pretty good place to start. The only thing to keep in mind is that they're a tad expensive, what with the large amount of core troops you need.
Other than that though, they're absolutely solid and if you wanted to start with them, they'd be a great choice.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

Hi!
Thanks for the heads up on the counts! I do like the look of them but didnt know they were being updated so my timing was pretty good! Just wanted to make sure that people didn't think that I was one of these gamers who follow power creeps etc!

Vampire counts seem to be a little expensive to field, I'm not sure if thats a problem for you or not, 15pound for 10 skeletons (apparently points being reduced in the new book) 20pound for 20 zombies and if you plan on playing in the GW they won't allow any substitutes.

That said VC is an amazingly forgiving army giving the ability to ressurect entire units. (again adding to the cost, you often finish the game with more troops then you started with) but its hard to say until the new book comes out.

It really depends on what kind of style you go to play, to me taking vc would be a learning curve, since I played back when a full unit of 40 zombies with command would never/rarely lose combat auto cause the enemy to flee on account of its what fear did and then be able to chase the enemy down at only a -1 modifier. Not anymore
