Ok I have lots of people in my local GW shop asking me to play this guy who apparently have a "unbeatable" army. (his the most cocky person ever so people all are annoyed by him)

Ok I think his got:

Crowe

10x purifers
4x psycannon
1-2 hammers (don't know)

10x purifers
4x psycannon
1-2 hammers (don't know)

10x purifers

all 3 assassins, the sniper, the besek guy and the shape shifting one.

and a dreadnight with teleporter/HF

SO, he combat squads the squads so he have 8 squads.

Basicly I don't think that list is unbeatable, I am gonna try to beat it with orks or necrons.
I will take,

2x big mek KFF
3x 7 lootas
5x 20 shoota boys or squads of 30,
3x deffdread 3DCCW and a flamer. Get into combat to kill 2-3 marines and even if his hammer kills me I don't care.
3x deffkopter TL missile. (marine busting)

So My tactics is to sit back and shoot. He normally just moves forward and run if he can't get i range to shoot me so I was thinking I am gonna sit back and just let him get into my firing range and put out all my shots and let him come to me and I will use my waghh.

the deffkopters should kill 1 squad if he doesn't have cover, and the lootas should take care of another 2 squads before he reaches me.

1 round of shooting from all my boys should shoften up his squads down to 2-3 man.

PK nob will take care of the dreadknight.

The deffdread hide untill he reach my line and counter assualt him which should kill most of his remainning squads.

IF any of you guys got tactics on how to be more affectively killing his army please tell me.

His not the average player who plays for fun, his really cocky so I want to prove to everyone that his list is not unbeatable. (the list I am using have not been beaten after 30 games so I think it should be quite good against his list which apparently won 24 games in a roll, which i doubt because I used deathwing vs his paladins and was winning till turn 2 and we had to end and he cheekily said he won because he had more kill points up till then, what a d*** since its only turn 2 and i was about to kill that last guy in his 3x 8man squad.)

So advices please

Battle wagons should run right over him. With a KFF he will have a really hard time killing them all. Also stuff one full of burna boyz and see how he likes it.

He has zero mobilty, 24" in range on almost his entire army and no reliable ways to kill heavy armour, which means any decent mech list with fire support should do well against him. The problem is that your list is basically the complete opposite from this, its completely infantry based so its just as slow as him if not slower (so you will always be reacting to him rather than the other way around) and you are trying to win the game with shooting against an army which shoots better than you.

He can do terrible things to your Boyz if he hits combat with multiple uses of Cleansing Flame and other than the Dreads (which are an obvious priority target) you have nothing tough enough to actually take the fight to him. You can kill the Vindicare with Lootas (who will otherwise kill Dreads and start picking the Nobz out of units), drop the Dreadknight asap (you don't have the firepower to stop the it early so its going to jump into your lines and flame something before you assault it), kill Crowe (you don't want him in combat) and then start trimming down the Purifiers. Early on you are happy with just killing the Psycannons (if wound allocation causes it to happen), but if they are threatening to reach combat its actually far better for you to completely wipe a unit rather than leave 1-2 guys from multiple units as its going to limit the carnage from Cleansing Flame.

You are really fighting an uphill battle tbh, I can't see you winning a shooting war, his Assassins + the Dreadknight are going to neutralise your Lootas and I can't see 100 Boyz outshooting 16 Psycannons and 20 Storm Bolters since he has a range advantage. Even with cover/KFF he can blow away a unit of Boyz per turn, all your smaller support units won't last long at all. If you don't advance into the midfield then you lose objective games pretty much straight away, but if you do move forward you walk into his guns and Cleansing Flame. Your best hope is obviously a KP mission and hope he still combat squads. If he doesn't then you have more easy KPs than him.

But yes that is a good idea, but getting into combat is not what I want to do since purifers hurt bad in CC.

Ok maybe I should have expained it bit more, he is not be best tactical player, all he knows is to run forward and get into combat, and maybe shoot if he feels his too far away so I actully stand a good chance to kill his units before he dumbly charges them into my boys. to be honest my boys are just there as a wall for my dreads since i don't think he has many hammers.

Lootas will take care of his vindicare and the other 2 assassins are pretty bad because they will be footsloging, and also the deep striking guy can't assualt after he fire a template into my boys.

His dreadnight is not a worry, i know to keep my boys spread apart so he can only get 5-6.

Or I can use my deathwing:

Deathwing should take that crowe list to school. You can either DS in and take the risk of him shooting at you. Or you can outrange him and wipe a squad at a time with missiles.

I am not sure, since I need to take out his vindicare assassin first then I it will take about 10 missile just to take out 1 squad if they don't have cover.

If i am orks I can always sit on cover and annoying the hell of him even if he ignores my armour.

As for were to get them, head to your local hobby shop and pick up 1/35 scale tank models and bash them all together. Give them GW weapons and spikes and vola! A full set of battle wagons for under $50

Do you guys think kommandos might be useful to ouflank and get to assualt his vidicare and to capture his objective and force him to move back and deal with them.

Also I seem to be very lucky on dice rolls and always get so I normally pass more than half of my 5+ cover and Hit about half of my shots since I seem to be able to rely on luck.

Its really fustrating for my opponets though lol.

Remember to post BatRep and take a picture of your opponent's cocky face before that game, and another one AFTER the game for us to see the difference.

I think my opponet might be pretty suspicious when he sees me taking pictures of him, but I doubt his face will change, all I want to prove is that he still got alot to learn about the game than getting a brand new army and just get some overpowered units and hope no one knows how to defend against his list.

I personally own purifers too and fully know what they are capable of and I will use it against him (short range, teaches him for not using dreadnoughts).

Hmm, lastly I could always use necrons and use destoryers to destroy his purifers since 6 ap3 shots are not bad at all. and annihilation barges are just a pain in the ass to take out and if you have gauss cannons on them then you have lots ap3 anti marine shooting and If my monolith survives I can use the large template to teach him the meaning of pain and for not using tanks.

Lastly but not least, when ever I start to do damage to his army he start to hide his units on terrain which again slows down his units and he make up for it by running which means less shooting for me. overall, he need transports

I am templated to borough my friend's guard gunline with 3 battle tanks and a whole bunch of plasma cannon and lascannon to really hurt the marines.

run deathwing, wipe a squad a turn with missles, keep shifting away from his 24" range

if he castles up tight it might be rough but you should take him to lunch.

let him go first, deploy 7" from the front if possible, if he spreads out he's screwed.

I love these types of posts. The last "help me clobber this arrogant kid on the table" request I remember was something regarding a player known only as "Ogre boy". Sadly I don't ever remember if the dakka poster was successful in his crusade. So be sure to post a batrep so we can know that you brought the hurt to this fellow.

Thanks everyone, I know quite a few suggested battlewagons but its really can't be done. I will have to play him in a few hours and I can only bring down 2 armies and I already have choosen necrons to play my eldar friend but then I can only take deathwing or orks, I might be able to take all 3 but the bloody monolith is annoyingly big.

Ok i will try to ask him if he want 2 games, 1 with my deathwing, 1 with my orks.

I know my orks the best and my deathwing is still new.

My orks have beaten:

Tau 7 times
Chaos 1 time
GK purifers 3 time
GK 1 time
GK henchmen 1 time
Spacemarine 2 times
Guard 2 time
Dark eldar 6 times
Blood angel 3 times

and some other game types haven't lost with them yet.

The only time was when i draw against draigowing where he sat on his objective with 10 paladins, ddraigo, and a libby... I seriously can't get rid of them since I can't get close enough to contest nor can i beat them in combat or shoot them to death.

My deathwing I only played 3 games.

Lost against eldar
Beat gunline guard
Beat another infantry guard

The necron list is semi competitive so its not perfect at what it can do.

the eldar player who beat me lost to my necrons and i only lost 1 lychguard, it was a table on turn 3 then I played another different gunline guard player and and he conceded oon turn 2 since by my second turn he lost all his tanks and half of infantry and only 2 vet squad left and some units running off the table.


And sure I will make a Batrep even if i lose but I doubt it because I remember beating this guy long time ago when GK just came out and he was tabled but i think it was a close game.

Marthike, i played against a GK very similar to what you listed,
with my orks very similarly to yours.

Me and the GK player agreed I did everything perfectly, but the gap in army strength is too great.

If im not mistaken, Psycannons are str 7 rending. I have no idea why people think these cant pop heavy armor.

str 7+ 6+ D3 ( and so many shots ) can pen even AV 15 stuff if it existed.

That is why I tried to go all infantry so his anti tank ability is ignored. My deafdreads will hide away only for counter charging because I can play on his range and my 4+ cover and terrain to hide my dread. However, they will need a rending hit to glance or pen a battlewagon and big mek gives me a 4+ cover which might save me since after 2 turns will be right next to him.

I will also try to prove that orks can beat purifers even if its a struggle. Purifers vs orks is very one sided since their psychic power is so annoying to horde. This is why I will try to wipe out one squad at a time. And I will let him charge me since I will lose cmbat anyway so I will have 2-3 round of shooting and draw his troops closer to my dreads will are there to kill most of guys in a squad so ork shooting might actully take out that 1-2 guys in the squads.

This guy is easy to read so I am basicly like play against myself which i know what he is gonna do so I will have no trouble out smarting him.

I won guys, the person conseded when he had only his vindicare and a inquisitor with convertion beamer left on turn 5.

The game was annihilation dawn of war.

I still Had 2x 20 boys untouched, a 3 man boy squad (lol) and a 6 man boy squad (double lol).

I had 8x lootas and a 5x lootas and 2 deffdread left.

He killed 1 boy squad, both big mek, 1 deffdread, the deffkopters (they missed every shot) and 8x lootas.

I will post a battle report later on.
