So I was wondering what I should equip my Immortals with, Teslas or gauss. They're going to be walking up the field with a Phaeron, getting the "Relentless" rule.

Gauss. You can stun lock vehicles at ease, and mow down tons of light infantry.
It will also make your Phaeron worth it.

It depends if you have lots of anti-tank already or not. If you do, Tesla may work better against MEQ infantry.

It aint as easy as that. He's running them with a phaeron, which is useless if the squad has assault weapons.

Guass. On those days where the dice are lucky, it can be crippling to vehicles. Though not to reliable on actually destroying them, stunning and shaking will let more of your units advance for more shots. If using Doomscythes, it will allow them to fullfill their purpose and actually destroy the vehicle and anything else that may cross the line for that matter.

Assuming you have a Phaeron Lord with the 10 Immortals outside of 12" range against a MEQ you get:

Gauss Blasters - 10 shots - 1.5 dead MEQ
Tesla - 2.22 dead MEQ

Inside 12" double the Blasters - 3 dead MEQ

That is just expected value for these, the Tesla have a higher upside overall with potentially 4.44 dead MEQ at any given time.

Against vehicles Tesla cannot hurt AV 12 and are worse against AV 10/11. If you are just looking to suppress a vehicle, however, they are really close.

For 4+/5+/6+ saves on T4 the Blasters instead cause 4.5/9 wounds where Tesla does...
4+ 3.33
5+ 4.44
6+ 5.55

Naturally cover can change these calculations. Overall, I like the Tesla Carbines better, I think they are a bit more exciting and if I want to Glance a vehicle I would rather do it with cheap warriors than with Immortals.

My list has a 10 man strong warrior squad in an Ark, and a 5 man Immortal squad with a Phaeron. I also have 4 Scarabs, an Annihilation barge, a HeavyD, and a Harbringer of destruction w/ pulse.

Oh, and it's 750 points.

Gauss with Phaerons or maybe if they're inside a night scythe

Tesla if they're going to be far away

It all comes down to a matter of preference really. Imo this is an argument that can go on for days. I have a five man immortal squad that I attach to my annihilation barge as extra cover for the barge and then stick my H-Dest. close by for those armor junkies and use his gauss canon as support. I think either way you go it's not a bad choice but if you are attaching a phaeron with them then I would go gauss blaster just for the relentless rule...GL on your game :-)
