I liv e in australia but am currently in Ireland with familly. I am planning in buying a couple of finecast models, but Australia has very strict customs rules. So my question is, because resin comes from trees, will I be able to take them back. Thanks for any help!

Resin (used for models) DOES NOT COME FROM TREES.
It is NOT a natural product. It does NOT have bugs trapped inside it.
Yes, it is perfectly fine to bring into the country (people import FW all the time with few issues, for example)

Tree-sap resin is a different kind. That is the tree-sap that is exposed to air and hardens naturally, just on exposure to air.
Models generally use a two-part polyurethane resin (resin and hardener) The resin will not harden without the hardener, no matter how long you leave it exposed to air.
Apart from certain chemical smells that still curing resin will give off (not dissimilar to certain plastic explosives), it's an inert compound once the resin has cured.
