I am in need of ideas and planned out instructions on how to build special terrain. I got the No quarter Magazines that tell me how to make this Coal mine board which is pretty awesome. I wanna build a permenant table fixture where its Coal mine or just mines in general on one side of the board and Ork stuff. I imagine it as two feet of a...sorta U shape part on the left side is all the mines with Rail road tracks coming out of the tunnles with some custom made rusted coal Karts. The upper right side is a 2x2 hill that takes up that corner and the rest of the board I have no idea. I sort of imagine some blast marks in the center of the board but I need ideas for Orky buildings and where to put them.
Also any step by step instructions would be nice. Needs to be something that can be built on the cheap or something that most game stores would already have access to the stuff I need since that is where the board is going.
So...can anyone please help me?

I actually made a table like this. I didn't like it for long because it gets boring on the same table. So maybe try to keep as much of it as possible not fixed to the table itself. Any idea for some sketches of the idea?

Sounds like a cool idea, but I'd recommend sketching out your plans first, so you have your ideas more fully developed.
As far as materials, I'd probably use the standard insulation foam board to sculpt the walls of the tunnels/mine, with some paper towels soaked in plaster of paris to add texture and surface features.
Both those materials are cheap.
Good luck on that cool board!

Lemme know if you need some coal (anthracite). I live on an old coal railroad bed, and I can get enough for modelling free. Just pay S&H

Hope this helps!

I would have to second the idea to make it modular - having played on a lot of fixed tables, once you know the distances its fairly easy to know where you have to be to make the range work.

Well I think there will be some room for terrain to be moved but any table can be modular and can be fixed to cheat.
The only thing is tables that have 100% removable tarrain just makes it easier for those who are an zog hwat enough to think about doing it and a yag strukk enough to actually take the time to memorize something like that.
Memorizing exactly what 24 inches looks like is not hard. Our manager at our store memorizes what 12,24 and 36 inches looks like no matter what board he is on by visual sight alone and he is wrong like 10% of the time.
I am still in the planning phase. I got some outlines in the board done. The base board is setting right now. I am gonna take pictures of what is done and do one of those progressive things where the next photo is of it at a later time.
