Hi guys and gals I'm starting a Tau army. And eventually I would like to start a fantasy army, but was wondering what fantasy army is most like them. Also just wondering what 40k and fantasy armies equivalents are. Thanks in advance

Wood Elves... or something...
The Guard-Empire.
SM-Bretonnia
Chaos-Chaos
Necrons-Tomb Kings
Eldar-Elves
Dark Eldar-Dark Elves

This is mainly going off general similarities. There are actually a fair few differences between the factions making it hard to line them up... some simply have either no parallel or whatever parallels can be made are not very good.

Blood Angels- Vampire Counts
Space Wolves - Norscans (no longer a WHFB army, more's the pity)

Ogryns/Ogres
Hrud/Skaven (based off Skaven in Rogue Trader, but later art depicts them quite differently to be more original and Grimdark)
Newcrons/Tomb Kings (Necrons were actually created before Tomb Kings but sadly all their cosmic horror aspects were retconned to be the 40k equialent of Tomb Kings in space, a very corny idea IMO )

Craftworld Eldar/High Elves
Dark Eldar/Dark Elves
Exodite Eldar/Wood Elves

The Eldar/Elves comparisons are only for aesthetics; the background is very different from fantasy.
