This is more for fun than competitive playing, since most players would probably argue that a CCS should be mechanized or you're doing it wrong. So, what do you guys think would be an ideal way to kit out a stationary company command squad? The squad's primary role would be to sit tight and give orders to large combined squads with special and heavy weapons. I'd consider attaching a Lord Commissar for the leadership 10 bubble. A vox caster and regimental standard sound like some cool choices, what would you guys do?

No need for voxes and standards. If you want a order oriented squad to sit in the back, take Creed and Kell to have 24" 4 orders at LD 10, a master of ordinance to give them something to shoot at, and maybe a mortar or something.

If you're not moving your CCS, it's probably a good time to take a master of ordnance. While you're there, you might as well take a lascannon.

Anything else (other than perhaps some choice special weapons or one of the other advisers if you need them) is probably a waste.

I have run stationary CCS in the past and continue to do so. Go with a lascannon and Master of Ordnanace to start with. If you have the points, Creed/Kell are great. In bigger games, I will run this squad as follows:

Commander
Lascannon team
Trooper w/ lasgun x2
Body guard x2
Master of Ordnance
Cammo Cloak option.

Drop these guys in cover . The body guards are they to soak up wounds.

2,000 points

265 point detachment

Imperial Knight detachment: 375

Iron Hands: 1,850

I use mine to support HWS's, so I run a lascannon and regimental standard, sometimes a plasmagun. At 1500, i add the Lord (usually with camo cloak), and usually attach him to the squad. I've often put a medic in the squad as well. With the Lord, the squad has 10 wounds, and in stealth cover with a medic, it takes alot of fire to destroy. Who wants to do that just to silence on lascannon? Then the medic gets no work tho, so its kinda like if you have him you don't need him, if you don't, you wish you did.

Lately though, I've been thinking if the Lord is there, maybe the Standard isn't needed. So I'm going to try a lascannon/2x plasmaguns. (Screw the medic. Are we Guard or are we Guard?)
