What's the best way for using this guy? I'm thinking of dropping him in reserve with a MC Daemon Hammer being able to pop up behind tanks if i'm playing a gunline army, and able to claim objectives if I'm playing a Draigo wing, what do you all think?

Has anyone had any success using Soladins? if so how?

Yup, MC hammer outflanking.

I knew someone who made a 150 point paladin.

Paladin, MC Warding Stave, Apothecary upgrade.

He was was the single hardest thing to get off the board.

Until he caught a lascannon shot to the face.

Dont you mean until he took a lascannon to the knee?

As to Soladins, it depends on the list.

Consider two otherwise identical Draigo lists, with only the secondary troops (after the big 10 man pally squad) being different.

List 1 has a 5 man strike squad with psycannon.

List 2 has 2 soladins.

List 2 obviously has 2 secondary scoring units, while list 1 has only 1. However, in a scoring game, you probably are taking the d3 GS for scoring, making the difference of 1 scoring unit not as important.

Now, list 1 has more shooting, obviously, as the addition of an extra pcannon and storm bolters can be handy. On the other hand, the 2 soladins can be better versus hordes with their 2 large blast templates.

In a kill point game, 2 soladins are worse, but Draigowing tends to have a small KP count anyway.

Finally, Strike squads have warp quake, giving some area denial that is actually pretty handy with a small unit count force like Draigowing.
