My wife is looking to expand her VC force, she has 2 vampire models and a battalion and 5 extra ghouls. We will play around 1500 pts. She wants the Coven Throne, she also likes the new crypt horrors which I figure could work as filler for the ghouls and maybe stick 1 varghiest on a 50mm for a varghulf since she doesnt like the model. And a wright king as a bsb could be good as well. Any other suggestions. I think she could benefit from a 2nd battalion then I could steal the extra corpse cart to convert to a war altar for my new Empire army.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

It's hard to say. Not knowing her play style. I have found the terrorgheist to be one of my favorites to put on the table. The black coach just got even better in the new book. The "doesn't count towards core" is gone now so I will probably be bringing more dire wolves. I'm still working on the reading of the new book and am very pleased with the majority of it so far. I think that is probably where she needs to start to find what she would like to use in her army and, BTW, kudos to you for having a wife that plays, mine will just watch for a bit then gets bored.

- A Coven Throne is a mount for any vampire, but it's going to run you an extra 100+ skaven slaves worth of pts. A Lord on the Passion Wagon will run around 600+ pts, so you won't fit one into a 1500pts list.
- The wight king model will need some converting to become a BSB - might have to chop the sword hand and fiddle with it otherwise your banner might point too far forwards an unbalance the model.
- Crypt Horrors look like a decent basic MI unit. They can also be healed up 1+caster's wizard level worth of wounds per invocation! (wereas varghiests only gain 1 wound per invo due to having the 'Vampire' rule)
- More skittles are likely needed! Adding wraith/banshee heroes to these units can help turn them into solid tarpits provided you avoid characters and/or other sources of magical attacks.
- Try out some hexwraiths too! They look like they'll be good fun, but a glass cannon unit if ever there was one.
Hope this helps,
Cheers!

There is a BSB model from Forgeworld that looks fairly good. I haven't seen the book yet, but I as I have the same fickle "icky army" playing issues, my gf plays deamons and doesn't like the icky deamons but hates losing... heh... sorry back to point. Terrorghiest is amazing, I would also up the points a bit so she can use bigger stuff, if nothing else zombie dragon with vamp on it is a cool fig. Does she have a theme? Example for storm of magic I am going right up the ghoul side of VC, it might help her collect her army faster.

I used the left over banner arm from the new black knights set. I cut the arm at the elbow and shaved off the sword arm from the WK up to the elbow and glued it together.

Thanks for the info. Is it possible to run the Coven Throne in small games like 1,500 or 1,850? I know in one of the articles before they switched to the new blog on the GW website they were previewing some of the new models and mentioned that a hero level vampire could use it as a mount. When I stepped into my local GW today the main vampire player said it could not fit in at that level. My wife and I don't really have the time nor her the models to run a large game so can someone let me know how many points minimum to run a cheap hero on the throne?

Honestly it will be hard to field it with a vamp hero in games under 2000pts. With 1500 pt games you only have 325 pts to dedicate to a hero and at 1850 you can probably field a real striped down hero on it. 2500 or better would probably be the best. Hope this helps.

Here ya go all fixed with the wind. Didn't have to cut it just apply a lil heat from a lighter just below the banner and twist and hold til cooled. Be careful if you attempt this not to pull, just twist to desired position.
