My army uses 120 of them
My clan is clan Skryre I would assume that the slaves are not of my clan origionally.

Should I aim to paint them a mixture of other under empire clan heraldry to make them identifiable.

The thing for this is I'm using IoB clanrat models for my slaves, this does mean they have shields built onto them and an arrangement of spears and 1handed weapons - This I don't mind so much, although I don't use the spears or shields I wouldn't like modelling them without (at least with money as it is right now) anyway as it gives me the versatility to up there pts cost in my list however I see fit.

So I'm slightly at a loss how to paint them, while they would look good army colors wise being a dirtier dumbed down version of clan Skryre colors its going to make them a pain in the butt to identify them from the actual clanrats of my army whilst having them be multiple different heraldrys would probably give a greater presence of non skryre colors I'd rather not have to much of

What i do is paint the cloth grey and put devalin mudd on so it gets a more dirty feeling to the figure. Those stinky rat slaves aren't worthy of the Red cloth of Clan Mors! So muddy grey it is!

That way it's easy to distingquish a Slave from Clan Rats. Hope it helped a bit?

With 120 of them there's plenty of chances to throw in some variation. I like using Deneb Stone washed with Sepia. Its a little bright but I think it helps break up the sea of brown.

I've painted 60 clanrats so far & then I checked my list to see how many I actually plan to use. Then I reminded myself speed is important when it comes to the back ranks of clanrats.
