Hey Dakka, I was thinking of a list with a lot of CC in it, but still be able to function as a proper Mech list. Here's the list:
Commissar Yarrik = 185
CCS: Straken, Nork Deddog, Medi-Pack, 2 Flamers, Regimental Standard, Chimera with ML/HHF = 365
Ogryn Squad: 2 Additional Ogryns, Chimera with ML/HHF = 265
Ratling Squad: 3 Additional Ratlings = 60
Storm Trooper Squad: 5 Additional Storm Troopers, 2 Plasmas = 195
Veteran Squad: 3 Meltas, Bolt Pistol, Chimera with ML/HHF = 157
Veteran Squad: 3 Meltas, Bolt Pistol, Chimera with ML/HHF = 157
Veteran Squad: 3 Meltas, Chimera with ML/HHF = 155
Veteran Squad: 3 Meltas, Chimera with ML/HHF = 155
Veteran Squad: 3 Meltas, Chimera with ML/HHF = 155
Leman Russ Battle Tank with HHB = 150
So, the basic strategy is obvious; Yarrik is with the Ogryns as a nasty CC unit, I also have Straken with Nork as another. They attempt to handle any CC that is required, while the rest of the list operates as per a normal Chimera-Vet spam. Now, should I invest in 6 Ogryns? It would cost me 40 bucks and I want to know if it is at all worth it. Thanks.

Nasty Nob on Warbike with Klaw
|
I tried the Ogryns with Yarrick a couple years ago. It was fun, sound in theory, pretty aweful on the table.
It's a huge points sink that I later invested into a 40 man blob, the blob outperforms in CC, and is an effective screen.
In objective missions I don't mind having the +4 scoring units.

I could replace the ST squad with another Leman Russ? However there are a lot of templates, every Chimera has a Heavy Flamer on it. But i see your point. Thanks

For IG, Mech and CC do not mix well. To disembark and assault, the Chimera can't move. You also have to disembark from the rear, meaning your starting out behind the vehicle. You can attempt to 'power slide', but your exposing the rear or side of the vehicle for a turn. Frankly, it is just not worth the hoops to jump through. Why even waste the points on Chimeras if your throwing them away.
Straken is wasted when everything is in a Chimera. Straken works so much better with power blobs and other foot Guard.
In the mean time, turn 1, your getting the snot shot out of you. You have no long range AT to soften the opponent up till you get in Melta range. I think this list will have alot of problems against well built lists.

i'll give an idea of how mechanised IG looks like. 2000pts? okay, i have:
2medusa's(one small blast, one large)
3leman russes(2 battle tanks, 1 executioner)
2 chimeras
banewolf
Thats my idea of mech ig,Lots of templates. Some peoples is chimera spam; fair enough, thats probably what i'd add if i needed to.
But i'd certainly not have ogryns and yarrick; maybe try not to go for mech cc list (or try it out a few times if you already have the models)

Maybe reduce the ST squad down to 5, give them meltas for deep strike anti armor. Use the points somewhere.
Take the rats out. Use the points somewhere. The list kinda appeals to me because its different, maybe give it a tweak and give it a go.
My concern is the point level. Its like it would be a cool 1500 pt list but at 2000 pts I'm just not sure.

BlkTom: I was worried about that, I can demech if required, and just run with Lots of power blobs and maybe some artillery. i was just concerned with the Ogryns being on foot, I feel like they would take A LOT of shots before they ever even got to combat. Either way, I'll come up with a Footlist that I think works well with the Ogryns, and we can work from there. Thanks for the help.
Yarrik: Thats interesting, I usually run my IG Mech as a Chimera Spam with those units supporting them. I have 6 Chimeras, 2 LRBT, 2 Banewolfs, and two Hyrdas. And then stuff to fill in the points.
However, I wasn't going for a standard IG Mech List here, I wanted to primarily make it CC oriented, hence having Yarrik, Straken, Nork, and a Ogryn Squad all In the same List.
Byte: I think I will change it up a bit, play a game or two and see if it is as awful as everyone is saying haha. But I will probably end up switching it to Foot Guard, and make it more of as Power Blob List. I actually like the Rats, however I can see how they don't really mesh (at all) with this list. I think I will change up the ST though, and make them anti-tank, that's a good idea. Thanks for the advice.

If you go with blobs don't forget to leave room for Commissars.

It's a alright mech list, though Guard should never do close combat. I don't know why people try to get Guard to do close combat, they just don't do it. Stick to Guard's strengths; shooting!

Part of the reason that people, myself included, do it, is because guard can have a 67 man unit with 2 pf, 1 Chainfist, 6 pw, 54 guardsmen (read ablative wounds), can multi-assault the enemy's //entire army//, and claim 3 objectives at a time. Oh, and with 7 melta bombs, the ability to mas lasfire as the unit advances, and is backed up by orders that allow their 6 meltaguns to be twinlinked, or allow their masses of lasgun fire to be even more massive, or let them have an easier time running. Keep in mind that none of this is taking into account the fact of their re-rollable stubborn ld9, or any of the special characters in the 'dex that would allow them to:
have furious charge
outflank, shoot and run
counter attack and furious charge
