If you could change anything about 40k, what would it be?

Firing my Hellgun into a Fire Warrior's head....

Its not really the fate of the galaxy...... it could be as simple as a battle being won by someone else. Or as big as no heresy, whatever rubs people the wrong way.

So I guess i wasn't on two weeks ago when this thread was made. Must have missed it over the numerous other topics that have been touched on dozens of times.

"Strike first, strike hard, no mercy."

- As 1hadhq said, correct the scale.

- Bring back Daemonhunters, the focus on Grey Knights is, quite frankly, boring given all these loyalist Marine codices. Abolish alll mention of Draigo and the Dreadknight while we're at it.

- Bring back the old Necrons; it would be better to expand the already existing lore than retcon everything they are and make 40k a bit less grimdark in the process. Perhaps a better approach to give them personality would be to borrow from the Inheritance Cycle i.e. The Lords are literally unable to disobey the Star Gods but are still unwilling to serve them.

- Revise the Daemons range; the Greater Daemons are terribly outdated (though the FW models are beautiful) and the Horrors are very cartoony.

- Bring back LatD, possibly in a second codex like the Chaos rumours claim.

- Capitalise on the Ultramarines' flaws. They are not the 'greatest of them all', however they are from their own point of view, and whilst I resent this self rightous train of thought, these flaws that the reader is all too familiar with build great characters. I can also see them being more unimaginative than other Chapters, and don't get me wrong, I am not trying to criticise the Ultramarines but rather improve them from a narrative point of view.

I'll update this post when more comes to mind.

Resolute Ultramarine Honor Guard

Holy Terra

-More Sisters of Battle.

-More Grimdark Tau Empire.

-Necrons get to exterminate all life again.

-Grey Knights as they are before, without killing or wiping out everybody.

-Ultramrines are proud Chapter and don't put their pride at everyone's nose.

-More stable Imperium, with less territory.

-Promote Mordians, Preatorians, Valhallans, Vostroyeans, Elysians and others. Cadians, Krieg, Armageddon, Tallarn and Catachan are great but can't defend the whole galaxy by themselves.

-Made Space Marines even rarer then they are now.

-Make other Chaos Primarchs do something not just sitting around and wasting time.

-Female solders everywhere. Governours, Administrators, Pilots, Techpriestes and many others to.

-State Leviathan as last Hive Fleet in existence.

-Make several big Ork WARGHH!!!! Send one into the Tau Empire.

-Make some Eldar Craftworld to prioritize populating and trying to survive, not being arrogant and proud d**** as they are.

-Give Mechanics whole STC to play with. And let them fix the Golden Throne.

-Reorganizing First and Second founding Chapters into having 6000 Marines instead of regular 1000. Go BT!!!

-Give every Guardsman, Marine, Sister in the galaxy personal shield. Of course, with different strength.

-Send Custodes to do something in Segmentum Solar at least.

-Return Cadia to Imperial hands and place Creed as Governor-Militant. Rebuild it in it's former glory.

-More inter-interspecies love stories. More hot xeno heresy.

-Emperor start appearing into High Lords of Terra, Inquisition, Planetary Governors, Space Marines Chapter Masters, Imperial Generals... minds and tell them what to do.

-BRING BACK OLLANIUS PIUS!!!

-Get Chenkhov killed by his men by making him run across minefield.

-can't remember...

I will update this if necessarily. But this is only the tip of the Ice Berg...

For Emperor and Imperium!!!!

Sir, I salute you!

They won't correct the scale for a simple reason, they don't want you to mix in models from other companies ranges. By keeping to their 28mm 'heroic' the models are bigger and bulkier, thus true 28mm, well as true as it gets, bits won't truly work with 40k stuff. It's like the 54mm 'Heroic' used for Inquisitor which is massive compared to actual 54mm scale models - once again harder to use bits and pieces from true 54mm scale. So whilst it would be nice to have everything in its correct scale, it would never happen. However, I too would love to see models scaled correctly so that Marines really do appear to be Marines and not the same height as a Cadian Guardsman.

What would I change? Well, first of all I'd stop Cadians being in every damned conflict that exists in 40k as they're everywhere and actually include some regiments that would not be in the Codices - 3rd Ed. codex had loads of various regiments at the back, would love to see them have some use. I'd get GW to produce plastic kits for Valhallans, Mordians (with a Praetorian headswap), Tallarn, Steel Legion, Tanith and introduce 'new' regiments, such as the Savlar Chemdogs, those from Mortant, Lexxian and Jumael, as well as bringing in new plastic rough riders for several regiments, such as the Mordians/Praetorians, Tallarn and Cadian (Cadian ones could have option of bikes or horses, for those who don't like the idea of horses in the 41st millenium).

Reintroduce Specialist Games and promote 'em big time. Inquisitor, Battlefleet Gothic & Necromunda, although I'd also reintroduce Mordheim & Blood Bowl for fantasy if I could. I'd give the Sororitas a PROPER Codex and put the three main Inquisitor Ordo's into a single, huge Codex that covers them and the Inquisition fully. I'd put far more backstory, background & snippets of story inside each Codex*.

Actually there's tons of stuff I'd do but thats it for now.

*If you have access to a 3rd Ed. Guard Codex, look through it - the stories, the descriptions, the background, the information - all cracking stuff and sadly no longer given much importance in the Codices. I reread the story of Nork Deddog and Colonel Greiss recently - I'd forgotten it was so funny.

Thousand Sons Battleship wandering the galaxy...

1) Bring back the pre-Codex Grey Knights
2) Make the Grey Knights and the Space Wolves into small Legions; Chapter Codex organization is fine, but Chapters not descended from Ultramarines should have tactics closer to their parent Chapter rather than the Ultramarines
3) Bring back the Illuminati and incorporate the Sisters of Silence into 40k
4) More defensive and less expansive Tau
5) Oldcrons should be brought back

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.

'She sat on the corner, gulping the soup down, uncaring of the heat of it. They had grown more watery as of late she noted, but she wasn't about to beggar food from the Imperials or the "Bearers of the Word." Tau, despite their faults at least didn't have a kill policy for her race.'

Agreed. I want my necrons back how they once were. I want less tao "we are awsome join us" communism and more hiding in their holes. THEY DONT EVEN HAVE A PROPER FTL SYSTEM YET! I dunno what an illuminati is. I HATE the new GK codex (i also miss the old demonhunters codex) and the mini legion thing is kinda cool I guess.

Grey Knights are already larger than most Chapters, so why not use turn them into a Legion in all but name, but with their pre-Codex organization. Space Wolves don't follow the Codex, so make it so that they never broke down and were the only Legion to remain a Legion since the HH. The Illuminati are like Human Harlequins, except they're not flamboyant, are a secret society known only to the Emperor and to themselves, have access to the BL, and are part of the Inquisition both to protect Mankind and their secret. The oldcrons had a classic Lovecraftian feel I really liked, about an ancient evil completely beyond Human comprehension. And the Tau should be less aggressive, focusing on holding existing territory and expanding only when the Imperium is actively involved in other areas instead of subverting Imperial territory and slowly increasing the anger and frustration of the Astartes and the Ordo Xenos.
