Guys, cleansing flame, do you roll a single 4+ and all enemy models in combat take a wound or do you roll a dice for each model and those models take a wound in combat?

I.e three enemy units in combat with Purifiers and roll a 4+ and all wounded or 30 ork boyz in a unit and roll 30 dice one for each model, of course ork player allocates wounds.

Thanks

I've always played it as a dice for every enemy.

However, looking at the codex, it's rather ambiguous. You can interoperate it either way.

I'll need to watch this space...

I've done a dice for every enemy model, when i played grey knights for a bit. rolling a single 4+ and wounding all enemy models automatically is massively over powered. a 4+ for each enemy model would balance it out.

While I completely agree, why is it you have drawn this conclusion?

"... if the psychic test is passed, all enemy models that are part of the same assault suffer one wound on the roll of 4+"

There's is no mention of having to roll more than one dice.

You pick an enemy model, and see if it suffers a wound by rolling a dice

You then pick another model, and do the same

Repeat

Or, you can roll one D6 and wound all enemies on a 4+.

It can go either way, the rule excerpt simply says "...all enemy models that are part of the same assault suffer one wound on the roll of 4+". It doesn't contain the word "each" which would clarify it.

If you think that satisfies the condition, then your position is incorrect.

Lets break it down.

"all enemy models that are part of the same assault" This is talking about the enemy models you are in CC with. for example we are in CC with 5 enemy models.

"suffer one wound on the roll of 4+" this establishes what happens when we roll a 4+ for any given model.

So we have 5 models and one question "Did this model suffer a wound?

Well that spawns another question "Did we roll a 4+ for that model to have it suffer a wound?"

So All enemy models (This means every enemy model) needs to check to see if they suffer a wound, and we do that by rolling a Die for each model in the unit and checking to see if it is a 4+,

Thank you, clarification is both enlightening and exciting.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

To save time you can take all the dice rolls for identical models and roll them together.

Say there is a 20 strong boy mob with a PK Nob and 2 Rokkits.

17 identical boys. roll 17 D6s, 10 are a 4 or higher. 10 regular boyz get their 6+ armor save. 8 die.

2 Rokkit boyz. roll 2 D6s. 1 is wounded, he gets his 6+ armor save and fails it. Rokkit boy is down.

1 Nob, 1 D6. Nob is wounded. Nob gets 6+ armor save. Nob takes a wound.
