Hey guys,

So I am planning on starting up an Inquisitor's retinue, not only 'cos it's a GK option but also because it could double up as an Ecclesiarchial warband.

Anyway, I am thinking about how I would do Crusaders.

Crusaders are carapace armour-wearing bodyguards that use power weapons and stormshields.

I am wondering if Scout Marine legs would match up with a Cadian torso? If I recall correctly, Scout legs have belts on the top whereas Cadians have belts on the bottom, so some filing might be necessary... But I figured I could match up the legs and torsos and use spare IG arms, stick on a spare SM power weapon 'n' Termie stormshields and Green Stuff up some robes (I want my retinue to have a very strong 'robed' theme, sort of like how one might imagine Acolytes, Scribes 'n' whatnot in the Imperium... I'd probably use some spare Empire Flagellant heads, though I'd file them down and have their heads under hoods.

Think this is a promising route to pursue? Has anyone got any better ideas? If there are cheap robed minis that come with a sword/shield setup, I would be interested in seeing that.

Edit: Do scout and Cadian torsos match up well after filing?

If you're looking for cheap stick and board figures then Brettonian Men at Arms are your friend.

If you have spare GK flachions and can get some termi or DA storm shields you're in great shape.

I have Storm Shields from Assault Squads, Termies and the DA sprue... but I'm not sure that I am getting 'carapace armour' from the Men at Arms sprues. I also can't really see how I'd green stuff robes onto them. Thanks for the idea though, I can see it as being an easy way out if I fail.

They're already wearing plate mail and robes which is how I picked them, but if they're not to your taste how about DA vets with bare heads, bare arms and no backpacks?

I was wondering about that to myself, but if I went for it I'd have to use the closed legs so that only the feet show. Might even consider lopping the feet off and sculpting some less heavy duty 'uns.
