Hey there everyone got into a rules argument last week about skimmers and moving flat out and I need some back up.

Okay here's the situation. I had a raider with 9 wyches and an archon. The raider moved flat out in my turn giving me my 4+ cover save. My opponent fired at my raider while I still had my save with a missile launcher. It hit and obviously got an immobilized result, which moves to a wreck either way (thanks to being open topped and moving flat out). Naturally I failed my cover save. Now here is where we had some arguments. As far as I know the raider is just wrecked and I have to make a pinning check on my ladies. He argued that the entire unit is destroyed because of it, thus giving him 3 kill points instead of 1.

Now I know if I was dumb enough to land in area terrain during my movement phase and failed my dangerous terrain test this would be true. However every other meta I play at agrees that the vehicle is just wrecked if shot down by the enemy in the same game turn and the guys inside survive. Any help clarifying this would be helpful. Thanks.

As it was not the same player turn as when it moved flat-out, the girls would still get to disembark.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

If you move flat out, all of the people in the transport die if you suffer a immobilized, wrecked, or explodes result.

This is because models that are in a transport that move "flat out" cannot disembark. Page 67 and 70 combined make up this rule.

You moved flat out, and you get the save until your next turn, the consequences are still in place if you fail the save.

However that FAQ only decides what happens if immobilized in the same player turn as the flat-out move.
1. (Normally) you may only disembark in the movement phase.
2. Models may not disembark during their movement phase if their transport moved flat-out.
3. Since the models cannot disembark, if the vehicle is wrecked in that players turn, the models may not disembark and are destroyed.
4. If the skimmer is destroyed in the next turn, however, the models are allowed to disembark.

It moved flat out in one player turn and got destroyed in another. Your witches disembark as normal.

The only way moving flat out affects the next player turn is the rulebook specifically says when you immobilize the target that went flat out in the previous player turn, it counts as wrecked. This rule and the rule that says you can't disembark a vehicle that just moved flat out are mutually exclusive because they refer to two different player turns.

sfshilo - you are entirely wrong, as you are mixing up turn (which is player turn, as defined in the rulebook) and game turn.
