Hi all,

Well I've just been looking through a friends copy of the new Vampire Counts book and as a Tomb King player I can't help but notice that two new units in particular are putting my Ushabti to shame: Namely the Crypt Ghouls and Vhargeists. Now both these units are lower points cost than the Ushabti and yet have similar or even superior combat capability and unique skills to my TK equivalents, the same is true with some of the new guys in the Ogre Kingdoms book.

I already thought the Ushabti were looking a bit off when the Tomb King book came out, but now I can't help but feel like I got a bit screwed on my unit, especially since Necropolis knights are vastly better and only a bit more costly.

Annoyingly Ushabti are some of my favourite models! Am I missing something here Every time I look at the Ushabti I just think "Meh", and can never justify taking them, am I wrong?

If brute force isn't the answer, it's only because you aren't using enough of it.

on the forum. Obviously

Can the VC MI take ranged weapons that never receive negative modifiers to hit, and are S6?
That is really the only good thing about Ushabti now, imo.

Well, that and they are a bit cheaper than than Stalkers and knight IIRC.

Well, there's no ranged attacks, but Vhargeists can fly which probably gives them a much better threat potential.

The problem with those bows is that they drop the combat capability further, and in return you need at least 9 Ushabti to score 3 strength 6 hits, I'm sorry but a cannon is vastly better and less than a quarter of the cost. Even with a priest to give them righteous smiting your still only getting an average 6 hits, not enough to be worrying to anything really, and your adding at least another 210 points to your outlay for the priest (Not that you wouldn't be taking them anyway though I suppose.)

Ai, good point. Yeah, it seems that Ushabti are outdated then. Pity, cause they are excellent models, and I don't even play TK.

Maybe I should just start an Undead Ogre Kingdoms army, at least then I would have a reason to use the awesome models I've got!

That would be a really cool idea but everything would be a conversion to fit in with the TK feel
