Played a game as Imperial Guard last night, which I haven't done much of since the new codex (I took a few years off) and therefore the addition of "Orders" and "Command Vehicles". That was something I decided to play around with (rolling a CCS in a Chimera), however in the light of the next day I fear I may have made a mistake, particularly with the Regimental Standard.

My problem is this: The Chimera rules on p 39 of the IG codex state that it is a Mobile Command Vehicle, you can issue orders from it. Somewhere, I got the impression that this also meant the Regimental Standard got its "reroll failed morale/pinning checks" bubble from the Chimera (rules for the standard are on IG codex p 71). Re-reading, however, the Chimera only says you can give orders (to counteract the "no orders out of vehicles" rule from IG codex p 29) and there's no specific comment about the auras from standards. Does this mean that I was unwittingly cheating? My confusion stems from a couple of things: the model isn't technically in play, however it can fire from the vehicle (making it "in play" in the vehicle), likewise I remember a forum post from back when I first played in 4th edition about psykers using powers out of vehicles (and how you could do it). Therefore, I'd assumed the standard worked as well. Doesn't stop me from being wrong though.

Internet, what do you think?

P66, if you need to measure to or from an embarked unit you do so to the hull of the vehicle.

The Chimera has 5 fire ports from the top hatch. This allows units like psykers to fire out of the top hatch. Both of the psyker's powers are used as shooting attacks. Pg. 47 of the dex

The regimental standard is not a shooting attack and therefore does not get to be used from the chimera. Orders can however as stated in the codex. pg. 39 of the dex

Hope that helps.

Weaken Resolve is not a psychic shooting attack. It may occur in the shooting phase but it is not a PSA.

Actually yes a regimental standard does get its bubble from the Chimera. To quote:

If the players need to measure a range involving the embarked unit (except for its shooting), this range is measured to and from the vehicle's hull.

Isnt the Standard a passive ability? I'd assume it'd work just like an Ork KFF
