do not look at this topic until you read this please, this topic is a question.

just curious, but since when was posting menial stats(Strength/AP/Special/range) against GW's policy? last I saw, they just don't want points posted, or unit special rules(as posting either of those would break their IP and there'd be no point in people buying the dex) and again, they even do it on their website.

do not lock this thinking I am asking for "a free ticket" but it is kinda silly that GW even approves of it when I call them yes, it's illegal here.

but my question, again:"why are Weapons stats like Range/Strength/AP/Specials against the rules?" and the specials, well, not like I'd ask you to tell me what each does, all I'd want is something like thid:

Now, if the Necron wargear has not changed one bit since the last necron dex, then don't worry about it, but I'm assuming more weapons have been added since then.

As for why I needed them, well, like I said, I'm working out Dawn of War 2.5, and I make up my own points costs.

I have no Idea what you are talking about.

BUT DEAR GOD MAN NICE AVATAR AND NAME.

"The Imperium is nothing if not willing to go to any lengths necessary. So the Trekkies are zipping around at warp speed taking small chucks out of an nigh-on infinite amount of ships, with the Imperium being unable to strike back. feth it, says central command, and detonates every vortex warhead in the fleet, plunging the entire sector into the Warp. Enjoy tentacle-rape, Kirk, we know Sulu will." -Terminus

"This great fortress was a gift to the Blood Ravens from the legendary Imperial Fists. When asked about it Chapter Master Pugh was reported to say: "THEY TOOK WHAT!?""

You can post menial stats(Strength/AP/Special/range), but not all at once.

OP said GW doesn’t want points posted either. What about all the threads where people submit their army lists for analysis and include points for units in those? I don’t understand why GW would take issue with that.

It's not so much a matter of which information is posted as how much.

The thread you linked to was asking for a full list of weapons. That's something that you should be looking in the codex for, not asking people to hand you online.

Posting summaries with points costs is fine, it's just posting full break-down lists with points costs of every individual item listed that we discourage.

Apart from the business common sense (how would they sell codecies), there is the more important issue of copyright law, specifically awful, backward, occasionally draconian European copyright law. As GW is a company that does a lot of work in europe, they have to have tough standards, or else they could lose their intellectual property.

For example, in the US, you have fair use, which is tough to find in Europe.

The strangest one I heard is that in some places if you make some content, you have full rights over everything in that content, so if you use a GW logo in a piece of creative work, so long as you use GW's logo in the context of your creative work, you, for all intents and purposes, now are a co-owner of GW's logo.

The only way to keep your property is to defend it. Unfortunately, the legal system worldwide more or less fails to handle this in an appropriate way, which is why GW has to go vigilante...

Since you are going for a computer game you really don't need the exact stats. I'll give you a basic run down of the various weapons.

Gauss: Same as before. Bolter that auto-stunns on 6s.

Tesla: single shot weapon, same range as a bolter, heavy bolter with AP-, rolls of a 6 to hit result in 2 additional hits instead of just one(essentially turning one hit into 3) Lightining Gun basically sums it up. the Tesla Destructor is a higher strength version.

Techyon(sp?) Arrow: Basically a high strength one shot beam of destruction.

Harp of Dissolence: Its a Harp, as in the Musical Instrument, that dissolves stuff when its strummed.

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

If you are trying to make a serious video game mod, I don't think it is unreasonable that you would have to get the codex for background information anyway.

What are you, trying to make the whole Necron faction off of a cliff notes version?
