I am planning to give some of my Space Marines sarge and veterans, but I really dont like the fact the guns don't have any grips on them so they could be fired realistically (yes, I know the irony of 'realism' on 7 foot tall soldiers wearing armor the equivalent of a refrigerator with shoulder pads but bear with me) with two hands to control it instead of one. Is there any way to make it look better/unique? I was thinking of cutting one barrel of a bolter and glue it on another or cut half of it off and glue it under the barrel.

like cut the barrel off of these : http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/SPACE-MARINE-BOLTER-PACK-UMBRA-PATTERN.html and put them on these under the barrel? http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/SPACE-MARINE-BOLTER-PHOBOS-PATTERN-X10.html

Or could I just paint a bolter a different color or something?

Or could I use guns like this?

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Space_Marines/Space_Marine-Infantry-Accessories/SPACE-MARINE-BOLTER---UMBRA-FERROX-X10.html

Thanks for the help, I dont know where this would have gone so feel free to help and move this. And since im still new at modeling i dont think ill do this for a while but asking ahead of time.

thanks again ^^

What about the wrist mounted versions of the Grey Knights?

Really, a suit of power armour would provide enough rigidity to counter the effects of recoil from a stormbolter.

"Did you ever notice how in the Bible, when ever God needed to punish someone, or make an example, or whenever God needed a killing, he sent an angel? Did you ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? A whole existence spent praising your God, but always with one wing dipped in blood. Would you ever really want to see an angel?"

Take the underbarrel grip from a standard bolter, and cut it free of the weapon. Glue to bottom of the Storm bolter, reposition magazine.

Heck, if you're creative enough, you could clip a short length of sprue and turn it into a grip.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

yea but I kinda like the two handed look, but that is a valid point

Hmmmm i can see that, yea. thanks! I like the idea of a created too so later on I'll post my results (once i get more bitz X-X)

and actually i saw a guy in the SM codex a captain had a regular bolter but it was called a storm bolter ( this guy --> http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440271a&prodId=prod1060017 ) so I was thinking of the umbra ferrox bolter also, since almost exactly alike. though I wont throw the grip idea away too.)

The typo is probably because the guy writing the captions just looked at the extended Mag and equated it to a stormbolter. The angle also makes it difficult to see there is only a single barrel.

Fluffwise, a Stormbolter is just 2 bolters that have been fused into a single weapon. The original development was a jury rigged system(then called a combi-bolter) that eventually was streamlined into a purpose built weapons system.

GK stormbolters are going to be the easiest conversion as you can either use the GK arm or just slap the actual bolter onto the wrist.

okay thanks for that ^^ and yea I thought about that X-X ehh and I like the storm bolter because it can shoot twice no matter what and relatively cheep on most guys, so I at least wanna make it look cool.

One question: since I usually see some threads that talk about glueing another barrel to a bolter or cut one up and undersling it like a home made combi-plasma, shouldn't it be like that too? or maybe take the AoBR's ork boss kombi-gun and put it on a captain with some skulls attached?

Just askin.

Well, WYSIWYG allows just slapping 2 bolters together. However, if you want it to look awsome you will put the extra effort, unless you want your Stormbolter to look like a twin-linked shoota...

What about taking the CSM heavy bolter arms (or regular marine ones, for that matter) and making it with a top-mounted grip?
