Subject: What are the parentheses around the second attack figure.

For the first time tonight, and in two instances I saw opponents with an attack attribute that looked like this:
A 2(3)
The first one was a Furioso dread, the second was a Eldar Dire Avenger with:
A1(2)
What is that second number?
Thanks Dakka!

The first is the number of base attacks, the second is the number of attacks it has with 2 close combat weapons.

Ok, but why is it only on a very few of the stat lines?
For instance, my Deff Dread can have quite a few extra attacks, but you don't see any (5) next to it's attack attribute.

they only show it when the default wargear of the model gives it that bonus.
If you can get wargear to give you more attacks great, but its not standard wargear.

They only show it when you have default wargear that grants the bonus, but have options that can remove it.

I'm curious about the Dire Avenger. Regular DA's don't have a ccw, and the exarch (who can have a ccw) has 2 attacks base.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

It is usually only shown on walkers, as they have differing rules for gaining additional attacks - as they can gain more than one additional attack over and above the 2 CCW bonus

That is the default profile for nearly every base model: 1 attack. Exarchs have 2 by default.

That's my question, why was the Dire Avenger listed as having 1(2) attacks in his opponents roster?
