Ok, well here we go. I'm trying to dive back into Fantasy as I haven't played it since the old VC book that had Bloodlines for the Vampires was the current one, I think it was either 6th or maybe even 5th edition. Anyway, I love the new VC models and just reading through the army book I picked up I decided to take a whack at a list. Please note that this list isn't going to a tournament expecting to win or anything, I just want to try and get the feel for the theme of the army off. Also, the document with my list in it is at home as well as my book so there might be a points descrepancy since I am doign this all from memrory. That being said, here it is:

Vampire Lord
Level 2 Wizard - Lore of Vampires
Quickblood
Dread Knight
Red Fury
Heavy Armor
Enchanted Shield
Talisman of Preservation (the 4+ Ward one)
Ogre Blade
Barded Nightmare

Master Necromancer
Level 4 Wizard - Lore of Vampires
Master of the Dead
Black Periapt
Seed of Rebirth

Wight King
BSB - Banner of the Barrows

Necromancer
Level 2 Wizard - Lore of Vampires
Dispel Scroll

Skeleton Warriors x50
Hand Weapons/Shields
Full Command

Skeleton Warriors x50
Hand Weapons/Shields
Full Command

Zombies x40
Full Command

Zombies x40
Full Command

Corpse Cart

Corpse Cart

Corpse Cart

Graveguard x20 (Wight King will go in one of these units)
Hand Weapon/Shield
Full Command

Graveguard x20
Hand Weapon/Shield
Full Command

Blood Knights x10 (Vampire Lord will go here)
Full Command w/ Banner of Blood Keep
Kastellan has the Biting Blade.

Again, sorry for the guesses on those, I can correct them and make the specifics known when I get off work in the morning. The plan for the army is to march forward (slowly yes I know) and bring battle to the enemy along the line, possibly using my Grave Guard and/or Units of Zombies to flank whatever decides to hit my skeleton units, or vice versa. The Corpse Carts will be disperesed between the units to maximise Vigour Mortis and the Blood Knights will be held in reserve for counter attacking/picking on a juicy target that presents itself. I decided to take 3 Lore of Vampire casters as I think that was the best bet to get my magic off and to keep my army from falling apart. The spells I'll be using is hopefully doing Invocation of Nehek to trigger the corpse carts and to also replenish units as often as I can. I believe that you roll for spells randomly so I'm hoping to get either Vanhel's, the one spell (cant remember name) that lets you re-roll wounds, or Raise Dead and use as appropriate. I am not sure what the best unit(s) to put the two necromancers in is. Neither of them have any kind of save other then the 6+ regeneration on the Master Necromancer.

Anyway, that's the current plan. Remember, this is a for fun army. Lemme know if this n00b did a good job and if I can fix anything! Thanks in advance.

Is my list really that bad for no replies? Anyway, I've been doing some thinking and I am debating on dropping the zombie units and then throwing in another unit of Skeletons and maybe some Bat Swarms to use their nifty little Cloud of Horror special rule.

Well from one noob to another I think you could win with numbers alone. Your lords and heroes look good to me, your core looks good to but the zombies will die in droves, I don't know about the grave guard they may be a bit small and you may want to spilt the knights to cover your flanks. One more thing it should be funny to see your opponents face when you put that many models down.

Where the sun crosses the field of blood.

Well, I didn't comment because I have nothing to comment on... I can't find any glaring weakness. You might have some troubles with Monsters tying up your Infantry, and some more with flankers... But I get the feeling your army will just weather everything out anyways.
It's like the army of attrition.

I'm not a fan of the Dread Knight honestly. Vamp Lords are already WS 7 so what are you gaining by +2 WS? You are now forced to issue challenges and from my experience other Lords/Heroes are able to better kit up for challenges (i.e. Dark Elves' ridiculous cheap pendant of I never die, Archlector Speculum thing, and other survivability/character kill combos come to mind). Eventually you are going to fail that 4+ Ward.

I would find another cheap item or add in 2 skeletons instead.

Do I look like a guy with a plan?

Thanks for the comments guys. Hrmm..

@ Corner, you might be right about the monsters. Maybe I'll twiddle around and see if I can throw in a unit of Ghouls or something. What else could I throw in to kill monsters? Only thing I can think of is maybe some great weapons on the Grave Guard but then their armor save would drop and they wouldnt get the "Parry" save anymore. I must think on this.

@ Nightchild, Well honestly I don't know what the good of it is. It just seemed like a good idea to be hitting other characters on 3's, I dont know that much about other armies abilities in challenges so you might be right about that. I'll have to look and see if there's something else I can take instead of it, though I could just drop it outright.

@ Little Ork, Heh, zombies dying in droves and then getting right back up! Yes...excellent.

Some second thoughts on the list. As I mentioned I thought about taking some Bat Swarms to utilise Cloud of Horror. I've also been giving Black Knights a lot of thought as they are awesome for their points cost. Perhaps maybe no Blood Knights and some Black Knights and Bat Swarms? I will think on this and be back later with a modified list.

Oh, I don't know if it makes a difference but the Skeleton units would be running as a horde, 10 abreast, 5 deep.

Also, I finally double checked at home and there are only two units of zombies and the Blood Knight champion has the Biting blade. I'll edit that now
