I've posted six Grey Wolf army lists on our gaming club's blog that use Plastic Soldier Company kits and few BF blisters to make 1500 point armies for about 100 euro. I'm trying to get more people in my area interested in playing.

Good effort, but be aware the Euro is all over the place at the minute 82p per £ after being at near parity for 3-4 years. God knows how it is against the $, given the US Ecomony seems to be improving.

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

Hell, the Euro might not even exist in another few months (my inside sources at the European Commission don't see it living through the summer).

I'm starting to loose faith with my PSC Soviet infantry as they're very fragile. I'm thinking of replacing mine with either Peter Pig or Forged in Battle.

Their tanks are still the best in the industry right now.

The best value transports are Forged in Battle IMO. While Zvesda are slightly cheaper they are much more fiddly, require construction and modding to add weight and are less detailed.

I rate their tanks however especially as some of the kits are of quite obscure tanks. This summer when Battlefront release Barbarossa I may well be picking up quite a few of them.

Thanks econtutor. Two things to remember:
1. We used only PSC and Battle Front because we are supporting our FLGS and that is what they stock. If you go with other companies like Forged in Battle, Peter Pig, and Old Glory you will get even cheaper armies I think.
2. Anyone could probably come up with more optimized lists. I did it in the pub over pints and to be honest, I'm not even that experienced with FoW.

Cheers!

I have said this several times lately, I actually sat down and worked out the cost of miniatures comparatively and then discovered that because I want FOW bases it actually tends to work out more expensive for certain models.

I think factoring in bases is of importance when buying models, because BF supply's them but most of the others do not. Sp you end up with a false saving. Thats my two pennies worth.

I would think that if you are on a budget, you would make your own bases. Why stop the savings at the figures only? Layer up some plasicard and dig out the spackle and put together your own bases. Go to the beach and get some sand. Raid the spice rack for foilage. Come to think of it even plasticard is a luxury (but easier to shape).

Several companies make and sell FoW compatible bases very cheaply. Failing that 1.5mm plasticard is easy to cut to shape.
