If you join a priest to a unit of Repentia do the following things occur:
1) the priest gains Feel no Pain;
2) the priest gains Fleet or does the unit lose Fleet?
Both of these are Universal rules but the priest is not an IC but he does join units so I don't know how the rules affect him and/or the unit.

1) Does the priest say "him and the unit" gain FNP? If just him then only he gets FNP, if the unit does then the whole unit gains it
2) The unit loses Fleet, as not all members of the unit have Fleet

FNP comes from the repentia and does not transfer to the priest.
Fleet is lost by the squad of repentia.
If you want a priest in a repentia squad, highjack a rhino/immo and when you jump out either leave him in if you need fleet or bring him with if you need the rerolls.

The FNP USR says it is not lost if joined by an IC whereas Fleet is lost if joined by a non-Fleet IC.
First problem is that the priest is not an IC.
Second problem is both FNP and Fleet are unit rules and the priest does join the unit. Since he's not an IC wouldn't that, by default, make him a part of the unit and therefore subject to unit special rules?

He is an IC. He does not gain FNP and loses them fleet, but can disengage whenever.

Neither the entry on page 87 of WD 380 nor the entry on page 96 of WD 379 say he is an IC. He is classified in both entries as "UNIT TYPE: Infantry (character).
So he can not join or leave a unit to which he is assigned. BTW it also doesn't say directly that he can join a unit but it is strongly implied under his righteous rage special rule that says it effects him and the unit he has joined.
It's typical GW sloppy writing. But as he's listed now he is definitly not an IC.

Umm. Check P87 and P96 again. They both CLEARLY say Independent Character.

You're right. I was just looking in the wrong section. I wonder why they don't put independant character in the unit type field?

Not sure, but it has been like that through all of 5th edition. It appears that they consider IC a special rule.
