I have noticed over the past few years that the two missing Primarchs are creeping more and more into the lore of Warhammer 40k, mainly through the Horus Heresy series.

This might suggest that eventually they might be unveiled or actually be found.

Should we find out more about the missing Primarchs and Legions or should they remain a mystery, that is only every referred to in cryptic visions and stories?

"You strive for victory. That is obvious. What may be less obvious is the nature of victory. There are circumstances in which you can destroy the enemy utterly, without loss to your own forces, and yet the victory may be his. In all situations, you must first decide on the nature of victory, and then take steps to secure it. Avoid the instinct of fight first and think later." ( Leman Russ )

Actually Reveal them now. Everyone now isn't going to make missing legion stuff because everyone doesn't like the idea of it.
So GW can do that. And there will only be a small backlash because most people have chosen newer foundings.

'Creeping more and more into the lore (shudder) of Warhammer 40k..."? Eh? They've been mentioned a few times in the Horus Heresy novels, and only ever in passing, never as plot points. Their only dramatic purpose is to provide a bit of mystery, let them remain one.

Remain a mystery imo.
A lot of fluff recently has removed the unknown, foreboding and sense of fear that 40k used to have.

It also allows people to create their own Chapters based on the Primarchs.

Yes. Yes they should. If there's no mystery to them, they are utterly pointless, far as I'm concerned.

They can do that now.

They should just tell the tale already, it is not like it is going to be a great story .

Surely that's actually a reason not to tell it?

Also, to the OP, apostrophes are not for warning the reader that an 's' is approaching.

I say keep leaving clues about them, or have a story where they found out information on them, but don't reveal them as a whole.

I think one of the missing Primarchs was a woman.

After realising his error that a woman could only every be good at cleaning up, just like Girlyman.

So realising that he already had a female primarch with gender issues, decided never to make the same mistake again. Hence the missing Primarchs...

What has been written about them in the HH series?

Very, very little. It's hinted in Prospero Burns that the Space Wolves were responsible for exterminating them, and Malcador, who refers to them as 'the Forgotten and the Purged', reminded Dorn in 'The Lightning Tower' (in Tales of Heresy) that the Primarchs took an oath never to speak again of them. The same story indirectly confirms that all twenty Primarchs were recovered by the Emperor, while Dorn's dialogue could be taken to infer that even his was in fact unaware of their fate. This has not, of course, prevented people from dreaming up all manner of daft theories (they were the Grey Knights/Custodes/Deathwatch/Blood Ravens/whatever) despite the almost-total vacuum of information.

I don't really get the whole people using the missing legions to create chapters thing surely two legions that were absent for the Great crusade let alone the HH have no relevance to the 40k universe let it lie

Isn't it somewhat suggested Trazyn has one of them in the necron codex? I could be entirely wrong ... but it says (while describing his collection):

"The sunken chambers are crowded with artefacts of all forms: the fabled wraithbone choir of Altansar, the preserved head of Sebastian Thor, the ossified husk of an Enslaver and a giant of a man clad in baroque power armour, his face contorted in a permanent scream - to name but a few."

Again, I could be entirely wrong lol

There has been much debate on the point, but it could be any Space Marine, or a Custodes, or even an Inquisitor. Giant of a man is very vague. It could be, but most likely isn't.

Agreed with this. There was a massive debate about this on Dakka actually not too long ago, but the general consensus was that it's not a missing primarch.

And I think they should remain a mystery. Besides, GW can't reveal the story for the simple fact that there is none.

My thoughts exactly.

For what it's worth, Black Library authors can write what stories they want about them, but I'd prefer if GW themselves keep their hands off them and continue to mention only the vaguest of rumours about their fate, if only to encourage people to come up with their own theories/interpretations or even their own Legions and Primarchs. That's what the setting is meant for, anyways - for fans to "make it their own".

In terms of 40k, it is probably best that the two missing primarchs stay that way.

If GW were to release a 30k expansion, however...

Probably best if you don't reveal them, and just leave them as the 'warnings of an upcoming tragedy that were ignored.".

I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.

'She sat on the corner, gulping the soup down, uncaring of the heat of it. They had grown more watery as of late she noted, but she wasn't about to beggar food from the Imperials or the "Bearers of the Word." Tau, despite their faults at least didn't have a kill policy for her race.'
