some friends are thinking of playing a normal (less then 3000 point game) using legendary units, i.e. tau tigersharks and warhounds )
how well do you think this would work? should we use the apocalypse rules/measurement or reduce everything for a standard game? (so ranges of 110 would become 72, no destoryer weapons, they use their normal strength value, etc etc ec )
also, has anybody ever considered an apocalyptic planetstrike?

at less than 3000 points, some of those units are overpowered.
Just be aware of that.
I mean, there aren't many armies that can deal with a warlord titan, without super-heavies of their own, or dedicated units built solely for hunting those units. (titanhammer squads, mass deepstriking melta squads, etc).

I would love to do an Apocalypse CoD or Planetstrike. I think it would be very entertaining.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

yeah i was thinking that but then i also looked at the "linebreaker" mission in the back of the battle missions... 3 baneblades v.s. 1500 pnt army...
plus i mean the other army could use a warhound or a tigershark aswell, it's just a smaller scale engagement,
i'm thinking, scout titan is out scouting, encounters small detachment of main army (like maybe a 1000 point battle )
goes to town
maybe even toss in some fortifications or lascannons from planetstrike? =o

I KNOW!! ^(@.@)^....imagine how huge the drop pod would have to be for a warlord titan! xD.... it probably wouldn't even use a drop-pod, it'd just jump from orbit and do some type of kneeling land while punch ground type thing? (i dunno xD it makes sense in my head! )

Actually its only really flyers that are over powered; if youre playing on a normal size board most titans dont have room to manouver, and soon find themselves hit by meltas which kill them SO quickly.
Run them as their own force org chart, using the multiple detachment rules, and I would limit flyers as non-Apoc units REALLY struggle having enough AA fire to take them down

I know I've seen it before, but can't remember where. Where are the ru;es for multiple detachments?
