Hi there all

Edge highlights have been really getting on my nerves recently!

I was wondering if anyone has any good advice on how to apply really great looking edge highlights, especially on large flat surfaces like vehicle paneling or semi flat areas like the middle of a sword, also how bright are you going on these highlights (but im guessing this is personal)?

Also are you guys using the usual level of thinning for the paint you use?

If you know any good links or guides please link to help me or others!

Thanks in advanced

Most vehicle panels are fine, you just use the side of the brush to apply the highlight. Your paint needs to be thinned enough to flow off the brush, but not run from where you apply it.

The centreline of swords is a usually carefully drawn line with the point of the brush. Tidy up with the base colour(s) to either side. Paint for this needs to be a bit thinner, and you may need to go over the line more than once. Again, good brush control is needed, you don't want to apply too much paint and have it run.

Buy painted has some very good vids on this. Also unfortunately like everything practice and dabbing paper are your friends. Took me a looong time to get it right.

1/1 Lighter, 2/1 water to paint usually works well for me.

I just use a very lighter color to highlight with. Like the badmoon yellow I used to highlight this hammer head.

Paint the plate the highlight color then cover all but the edges in the base color.
