Or more accurate a SM Red Scorpions army?
The guy i played the other night had one for every unit which was a bit of a pain in a 1500 point game.
I was under the impression you could only take 1.
Is it one for each squad now?
I cant seem to find anything that says you can have more than 1.

This rule has changed several times. At one time, each tac squad could have one. No idea if thats the current rule or not though.

Why were you looking, have him point it out in his rule book. If he can't, there is your answer.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

In all honesty i didnt question it as he was using a IC out of one of the Imperial Armour Codexes and the normal SM codex with no errata.
It didnt sound out of place as someone else walked past and enquired "Apoths in every unit?" to which he replied yes so it seemed to back it up but i have been unble to replicate this in Army Builder (Red Scorpions rules) or in my SM book, or DA, BT, and GK codexes for that matter also.

Next time you play ask him to show you where in his rulebook it says that you can add an apothocary to each of his squads. If he can't show you the rule then he can't do it.

Edit: I found the ruleset in Imperial Armour 4. While he can make his sergents into apothocaries (for 25 points). He can not use the Scout or Infiltrate USRs at all in his army. Also his scout and scout bike units are 0-1 for his army choices.

Red Scorpions are an Imperial Armour list, so the answer to the original question is lots.

This is interesting IA4 says he has to pay for apothocaries. IA9 says he doesn't. Is there any order of precedence for which book over rules the other?

In general, new overrules old.

Normally I'd agree with the newer overrides the older but in this situation the rules would be in two different parts of the same codex.
In IA4 the rules for sgts -> apothocary is in the troop selection/cost section.
In IA9 the rules are under the special character section.
IA4 is copyright 2006 which may predate the current 5th edition. If so, then IA9 would be the way to go since it is the current format for this sort of thing.

Lobukia - you can. If you run Commander Culn from IA9

5th edition came out 2006. IA4 relates to the 4th edition codex SM

Well, I meant besides IA stuff... which is cool, just not allowed at one of the two FLGS I play at.

There are two sets of rules:

IA4, pg. 122
IA6, pg. 124

IA6 should probably supersede IA4 to follow the 5th edition SM codex.

The update to Culn in IA9, pg. 167, lets you take the Apothecaries at no cost. Note that they can only be in Tactical Squads regardless.

To further this point, those Apothecaries are not allowed to take any Sergeant wargear options.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Agreed. So you trade a Power Fist for FNP. Worth it? You decide.

In IA4 Culln was a captain IIRC. In IA9 he is chapter master. His xhapter tactics allows sgts to be apothicaries in tactical squads only for free. Ive played a counts as red scorpion army before and they're tough to handle in most games. From what i have seen they are the most common IA list because of that. There are a few around my area. Culln is quite expensive though.
