A list I wrote using nothing but the models from AOBR (some repeated of course). My idea is to buy them all cheap since they're all from the starter set, and get cool space marine army up for cheap. So what do you think? Could YOU win with this list? Sure it's not optimized, but it doesn't seem too bad either, does it? As an added bonus, I could potentially get the entire army around $160.00, so...keep that in mind.

So, do you think you could do better? Using only AOBR models, write a list for 1850 points, making it as competitive as possible, using WYSIWYG (only exception is with wargear that there are no models of, such as twin-linked shootas, meltabombs, bosspole, teleport homer, etc., those are all free game.)

I'm not an Ork player, so I won't comment on that list, but the SM list would be a ton better if you relaxed the AoBR only requirement slightly, to give Cyclone Launchers to the Terminator squads. The points could come from swapping the Chapter Master for a Librarian (you can just convert the model) and dumping all the Meltabombs and most of the Teleport Homers. The Teleport Homers aren't as good an idea as you think, since a lot of things will ruin a regular Terminator squad.

I actually played against a list quite similar to yours at 1500 a while back with my mech BA army, and it was not pretty for my opponent. Your list is better than his, but you still have the same core issues, the biggest being you simply can't handle a mechanized list.

Another thought: Could you at least trade some Teleport Homers for Power Weapons/Power Fists? I don't know what comes in the AoBR set, but that would be another easy conversion that would probably improve the army a bit.

Firstly, your list is illegal. You can't have 3 termies and 3 dreads as they are all elite. Only way to take dreads in HS is with MOTF.

Give me $160 and an ebay account and I'll give you a much harder list and plenty of change!

Tacs with no transports, melta dreads with no drop pods, termies with no special weapons, chapter master for HQ = far from optimal choices.

If you have or you want use only AOBR models you have 2 elite units in and only 3 slots in army list. IF you want use 3 dreads there is no room for terminators.

You could run them as Blood Angels and have a legitimate list. Though the points would move around a bit.

I would say that 160 will go much further by NOT buying AoBR and get used models from the Dakka Swap Shop.

You could buy a pack of 5 cyclone missile launchers online somewhere, also forge world have dread arms that can be glued on to the cheap dreads, assault termies come will 10 sets of arms so you can glue different arms on. This would give a variety of cheap models.

If you use the warboss as a power klaw nob with bosspole and then buy Ghazghull you can easily make a great ork tide. You have to take plain nobs and large squads of koptas but neither is bad as it sounds.
