No wonder it took so long. Must have taken gallons and gallons of paint.
Honestly, I feel like the backpack would have benefited from a touch of detailing, just to break up the overly simplistic "stick and balls" shape. With the light source where it is, it's one of the more prominent features; because of this, the entire painting initially felt a lot more simplistic than it actually is. The background is great, the reflections in the lenses are great, the hints of forms in shadow are great, but I can't shake the sense that this marine has a child's toy strapped over his shoulders. That said, I do like the painting more and more as I continue to look at it, both generally and as I see in greater detail just what you've done to achieve those points I particularly liked.

Sorry but that's just stupid! It's a helmet, it doesn't show expressions.

Who said anything about an expression? Even if the marine inside is supposed to be whistling a happy tune, the lighting, pose, and slight elongation of the helmet all give a rather grim (but determined, I'd argue) impression. If you disagree with emotional character Samus ascribed, say so - as it stands, your post reeks more of ignorance than rudeness, which is not an insignificant feat.
