I've decided to get myself a stormraven as a birthday present.

However, I'm not hugely fond of the model. I mean, I like the idea of a Deep Striking aircraft carrying tons of firepower, but the model itself? I have everyone's complaints: stubby, dwarfish, and awkward. I'm thinking of rectifying the situation with the Chapterhouse Studios conversion kit (http://chapterhousestudios.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=85_78&product_id=200). Is this product really as cool and easy to use as it seems? Does it actually result in the images I see online when I google "chapterhouse stormraven," or is there a dark side I don't know about?

If you don't feel like describing the situation yourself, I'd also be happy to follow links you post to reviews you've read.

Thanks in advance.

My P&M blog - in which I chronicle the transformation of a battered windfall of models into an awesome addition to my Blood Angels force (hopefully) - can be found here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/431820.page.

I have seen it before (not in the plastic though)....It looks sweet and I think it really improves the model. I read the reviews on the Chapterhouse Studios website and someone said some cutting & filling etc was required.

Go get it....and drop me a pm when you take some photos lol

Here's one person's experience with it. Looks like a good kit, but one for an experienced modeller.

My only experience with Chapterhouse was the Jetseer conversion kit. The resin was fairly flexible and easily heat-bendable. Mould release came off with soap and water and clean up was minimal, very little flash. However, the detail was somewhat finer than GW's by comparison, although I doubt this would be an issue with the Stormraven kit.

That's what I posted the link to Lysensis. There's been one or two others but this one is the most recent.

I have the kit, but have not yet assembled it. The build quality looks good, it came fast, and the detailing is fine.

A friend of mine build it. Looks much better than the original, but he had to made some adjustments to the kit, so seemingly not for the beginner.
