I want to use a full tatical squad in a drop pod but I want them to combat squad upon arrival. Is it allowed in the rules to have the squad land and then combat squad or do I have to keep the squad as a 10 man group if they are in the drop pod. Furthermore can I combat squad them and then deploy half the squad normally and then the other half with the drop pod?

You can have them combat squad upon disembarking, but you cannot put half of them in DP, and have the other half come in normally.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

As above.

Your first question is explicitly covered in the CS rules - as in, not sure how you missed it.

Secondly the rules state you CS when deploying. Reserves, which is what a Drop Pod goes into, is performed *instead of* deploying.

This is from the SM FAQ, I believe i is also in all the MEq FAQs

Q: When a unit of 10 Space Marines with the Combat
Squad special rule arrives from reserve as two combat
squads, can they move on from, or Deep Strike onto,
two different locations? (p51)
A: Yes.
Q: When Infiltrating a unit of 10 Space Marines with
the Infiltrate special rule, can both Combat Squads be
deployed in different locations? In addition, does this
still only count as a single deployment? (p51)
A: Yes to both questions.
