Has anyone flown with a Portable Warfare Sergent case as a carry on before? Any issues?

Hoping to use one of them on route to Dakkacon in a few weeks flying domestic with Delta.

I've checked Battlefoam stuff on planes before and I've never had a problem.

I would not recommend checking a soft sided case. I would also not recommend putting a soft sided case in the overhead storage area as things tend to get crammed up in there.

In my experiance if your flying and you want your models to survive the trip intacted go with Battlefoam.

I don't know how much people want to spend on shipping their models but if you are seriously worried the Peli line of cases offer legendary protection at a price.

I took my sabel case on as carry on. Check with your airfare provider about total size allowed for carry ons.

If you are going to check your case it's always a good idea to photograph your army contents beforehand, that way in worst case scenario if you need to file a claim you have an account of what you actually had. They won't pay for long hours spent painting, but if you have a record it makes it easier to prove the retail value of your loss.

Always keep in mind that you can simply ship your army. Put whatever case you want into a box, pad it up to hell and back, then ship it to the hotel you're staying at. With those cost of bag fees on the airlines, shipping will probably be about the same price, or cheaper.

That is good news! Just as a heads up, though, I've found that some seats have extra "stuff" underneath. Sometimes my "underseat" case for work travel doesn't always go in. Now I bring that and a smaller one, so one or the other goes under the seat.

Other ideas... If you are traveling with someone, you can also use their carry-on to block in the overhead bin. Just put the mini case up against the wall, then other bag right up next to it. This prevents the toss-and-slam from having too much effect. I've also had good responses when just kindly requesting for folks to take it easy (saying please, and smile), there are some delicate items (wine glasses in my case). Folks have always been totally cool with it. Most don't realize its anything but clothes up there.

Other idea 2... if you are traveling with someone and get the minimized underseat space seat, you can trade underseat space with you travel partner if they bring a smaller item. Any time I've had the weird box in the space in front of my seat, the seat next door was fine.

Last possibility, ask the travel attendants if they have stowage for the delicate items. Sometimes they can make amazing things happen, but I would not count on it. I had wedding clothes that can't get all crunched get carried to Vegas via this method, but I did ask a lady, and saw her get all dewey eyed, so I was pretty much guaranteed some assistance in that situation.

Anyway good luck!

This is my preferred method. With baggage fees, it isn't really much more expensive. Plus, the postal service won't open up the box and root around in it. What I do is pack my models in a battlefoam bag and then ship the bag in a sturdy box.

This. Call the hotel ahead of time, let them know what's going on and if the package arrives a day or so early no one will cry about it.

No but they are unfortunatly the same weekend just like last year

And even though I love Dakka and Showcase, and I would love to make it to a Dakkacon, Templecon is my favorite convention of the year.
