It's a special rule.
It needs LOS.
But it still needs to shoot.
Can Coteaz use this rule in a chimera?

Yeah I think that his ability is definitely affected by the new FAQ.

No, he can't. He can't use the chimera's fire point to draw LOS for a special rule.

Seeing as you are drawing LOS for shooting (even though it happens in your opponents Movement Phase), yes it would work while embarked.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I disagree. The Special Rule is what is requiring LOS before you're even allowed to shoot. You need the special rule to function before you can fire in your opponent's movement phase and for that special rule to function, you need LOS to a unit deepstriking within 12".

As Puma713 said, Coteaz cannot use the special rule inside Chimera, as it requires drawing LOS before shooting:
Codex GK, pg 45
"If an enemy unit arrives from reserve within 12" of Coteaz and within his line of sight,"...

AS above. Before you shoot *anything* you have to check to see if he has LOs, which you cannot do from a firepoint.

Fair enough, I concede. As it is I was going off the GK FAQ, on the ability, and since it says it's a shooting ability, I assumed you could check LOS from a FP.
