Now that we finally have a book that works with 8th and some lovely new powers/items, I'm curious to see what set-ups we start seeing for our Lords/Ghoul Kings.

A rather fluffy Lahmian Vampire Lady set-up I'm trying out is;
Aura of Dark Majesty
Quickblood
Beguile
Fear Incarnate
Warrior Bane
Glittering scales
4++ talisman
The Good Book (of arkhan)

For a Lv3 she clocks in at a meaty 480pts but she's pure annoying as **** , especially if I slap her into a big unit of skittles w/Screaming Banner!
Fail your fear test, which you take on 3D6 discarding the lowest roll and either has to be re-rolled if you're successful or else cancels out your bsb and you hit her on 6's! (hello old fear rules! )
She's got ASF with I7 for re-rolls fun, plus every unsaved wound drops the target's attacks characteristic. To neuter any nasty characters that try and slap her, she's got beguile to ensure you can't hit her. (re-roll successful hits!)
A 4++ for protection and the good book to support the skittles round her out.

Normally I'll support her with a Wight King with Helm of Discord + Other Trickster's Shard and an extra hand weapon who will accept unsporting challenges on her behalf.

Hopefully she'll prove to be a highly annoying and resilient general for my army of the silver pinnacle?!

I think you'd find the book of arkhan to be better used on a regular necromancer since it's a bound spell that won't take advantage of the lord wielding.

Then you free up 25 points for your lord, sword of anti-heroes perhaps? You already seem to want her to be particularly deadly against characters.

Change and change until Change is our master, for nothing neither God nor mortal can hold that which has no form. Change is the constant that cannot be changed.

No game of chess can be won without pawns, and this may prove to be a very long game.

I'm planning on running (similar to yours):
Sir Novkaer:
Vampire Lord
Shield, Lance, Barded Nightmare
Glittering Scales, 4+ Ward
Dread Knight, Beguile, Quickblood, Aura of Dark Majesty
- 397 pts
That's 6's to hit for everything WS4 or lower, 5+ for most things else, needing to re-roll if they fail a ld -4 test, combined with a 3+ / 4++ save. And I strike at S7 on the charge, and re-rolls failed to hits against almost everything.
Fluff in short is that he's a Bretonnian Knight, kissed by a Lahmian Vampiress.

Yeah saw the benefit of the screaming banner with fear incarnate as well. Couple that with vanhels, hellish vigour, a corpse cart, and maybe the staff of damnation and you have a cheap skeleton unit that is both a tank and a hammer.

My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings.
Look on My works, Ye Mighty, and despair.

Because their base stat line is so awesome, for a 2500 point army, I think its possible to run 2! Just a basic Vamp Lord with enchanted shield, heavy armor and additional weapon already gives you 6 attacks and a 3+ save for just 235 points.

We can take 2 of those and still have points to spare for some equipment and powers! Anyone ever considered taking 2 vampire lords before? I think there's a huge difference between a lord and a normal vamp hero mainly because of the toughness 5.

Well, you won't be able to use the enchanted shield as you're forced to use that additional hand weapon in combat.
So just swap the extra weapon to one of the 5pts magic weapon like warrior bane or 'make other guy go stupid' sword and you're good!

To run 2 lords I think is highly viable;
Lord 1 = general. Lv1 wizard who invos stuff, perhaps carries a support item like 'the good book' or cusred book or such and gets the 4++ armour for protection.
Lord 2 = your fun guy! Build him to suit your tast, perhaps as a lore of death or forbidden lore wizard with fighty powers & gear.

The only thing running 2 lords does is almost certainly prevent you from slapping one of those lords onto a monstrous mount.
