Using @#$% still counts as swearing, please stop using such "horrid" language.

Cheers

and Their actually not horrid, a lot of their models are better then GW"s. But I can see your GW die hard and doesn't mind paying $105 for Oh, lets say an Anvil of doom... 4 models...105 bucks... lol

No reason to start throwing labels when you ask someone to play nice.

OT: It is a good value if you like the look. Personally I only like the cannons and the berserkers.

Fixed

And I am not a diehard I just find it to be a extreme case of proxying and I doubt you would allow me to play with 30 plastic army men that I claimed to be empire handgunners.

But the mantic figures are much more then just plastic green army men. Theirs to ways about k, there's plastic green army men and figures, mantic fall under figures. I know that there isn't the biggest selection for mantic dwarfs (Shield Warriors, Quarallers, Thunderers, Slayers and Warmachines, oh and hammerers and ironbreakers), but their good figures nun the less

I am just saying for myself if someone rocks up for a game and slaps down a Mantic Dwarf army I will not play them as I play Warhammer, not Kings of War.

You won't play warhammer with them if they don't have GW figures!, thats like someone refusing to play ancients if their opponents dont have all Warlord figures. Games aren't played only with one companies figures you know.

Whats the difference between a Mantic Shield Warrior to a GW shield Warrior

One is being used as a proxy for the other. I dont play games with proxys. It is that simple

thats a sweet deal, almost a full dwarf army for about the price of the battlion...where do I sign?

EDIT: just made a 2000pt list using those models, might not be very competitve but I look forward to using it.

I understand your stand point. i have similar beliefs but im cool with proxies. if your wanting to play test go for it. if your mixing in some stuff go for it. the difference is i am leniant because i know that GW is stupid expensive to play. its why i refuse to play it. its not fun to me.

if i actually wanted to build my dwarf army up and i sat down at a table and my opponent busts out Mantic Dwarves i would not care. i am not a GW Whore.

Look, if you don't like them, fair enough. If you think it's wrong to use them for warhammer, Ok; thats your opinion.

I have nothing against GW minis per se. If I had the money, I'd use GW myself. In fact my first fantasy purchase has been a GW Dwarf Batallion box.

This doesn't take away from the fact that 200 minis for under £1 each is, IMO, amazing value. I like the aesthetic. Sure, they are different from GW, but I can deal with that. I'm a casual gamer, and play at home. There isn't a requirement for me to exclusivly play with GW minis. There is a requirement for me to keep paying bills and mortgage, and keep disposble purchaces to a minimum. Lots of people are in similar positions.

That said, while it represents stunning value IMO, I doubt I'll be getting this simply because it's still "a lot" of money. I try not to spend more than about £50 per purchase on GW;certainly not £135. That doesn't mean I won't get any of the other Mantic sets though...

Personally I like the Mantic Dwarves far better than the GW ones. They may be a little less detailed, but at least they look like they can fight, rather than just drink their enemies to death.

Seriously, the GW dwarves are little butterballs compared to the Mantic ones.

@Vulcan - That is true.

I would prefer if the models were more of a mix of GW's & Mantics.

If so I would consider picking some up on the cheap as a fun army when playing in non-GW style events (only GW minis allowed)

Biggest problem for me with things like that is the fact I have no local hobby store to play at, and GW don't allow other companies figures to be used a shame really I've looked to mantic before for things, namely better looking skeletons and zombies at a cheaper price bigger unit size but alas didn't get them because of that rule!

As far as the dwarves go, I'm yet to find an army/figure of dwarves that bests GW's dwarves - not Lotr nor mantic. The only dwarves that have are Avatars of war and thats just a handful of individual models.

I agree that if you play at GW, then you have little choice, and yeas, if pushed, I'd say I prefer GW Dwarfs too, but still...
