Lately I have been experimenting around with GM Mordrak in my GK army and so far I am nothing short of impressed in the 6 games I have played with him. My usual load out is Mordrak with 5 Ghosts (4 halberds, 1 banner).
Casualties due to Mordrak and Ghosts:
Game 1 (2000 pts)
20 Necron Warriors
1 Overlord
9 Scarab bases
Necron Walker
3 Heavy Destroyers
Game 2 (2000 pts)
Long Fang Squad
Rune Priest
2 Dreadnoughts
2 Thunderwolves
Game 3 (2000 pts)
10 Sternguard
2 Rhinos
5 Scouts
This game he drew more fire than usual which really helped my StormRavens stay alive to deliver their payload. Also made my opponent over extend himself to one side of the board which made it easier to corner him in.
Game 4 (1500 pts)
20 Necron Warriors
1 Overlord
5 Necron Destroyers
7 Scarab bases
Game 5 (1000 pts)
2 Rhinos
25 Grey Hunters
Helped pull out the draw, other units performed sub-par.
Game 6 (1000 pts game 5 rematch)
20 Grey Hunters
2 Rhinos
Predator
Locked up Grey Hunters so my other units could do some extreme damage. Also forced my opponent to castle up which denied himself some shooting as well as making it easier for my strike squads to come in and do some damage too.
What does Mordrak bring to the table?
In my experience he brings a nice hammer unit that can also contribute to the army by conferring special abilities with grand strategy as well as helping with reserves through psychic communion. Mordrak is a psychological weapon as well by forcing some opponents to make some deployment/movement decisions that can harm them.
While Mordrak has racked up some pretty impressive kill tallies he has done wonders by drawing so much fire away from my other units as well as forcing opponents to make tougher decisions.
So Dakka, what is your experience/thoughts with Mordrak?
