So last year I attended the Conquest NW Seattle GT and foolishly paid for a pre-order ticket for the 2012 tournament. I've been trying to find info on when this years GT is being held, but I haven't been able to find any info on the subject. I haven't received a response from any of the contacts listed at conquestnw.com. The more research I do on the event and the organizer, Gabriel "Mondo" Vega, the more concerned I become that I'm going to be screwed over.

Does anyone know if this is tournament is happening ?

I've got receipts of payment and tracked down my bank record for this transaction, but I'm not quite sure what the best course of action would be to get a refund. Has anyone else been able to get refunds for events like these where the organizers are longer communicating ?

Hate to say it, but you've been screwed over. Mondo Vega has a track record of poorly run events, no notice canceling of events the day the event is supposed to start, and the impossibility of getting a refund.
I went to 1 Conquest event he put on. It was my very first Tourny. Just days before the event the venue changed from the hotel to a KoC clubhouse and from 5 games over 2 days to 4 games in 1 day. Nothing was pre-set and the players had to bring in the table-tops and boxes of terrain and do the setup the morning of...and help breakdown everything at the end of it (then the wonderful 2 hour drive home after a pretty tiring day).
Our local 750 pt mini RTTs we do in our League are more proffessional.
At least I got to meet some really good players and made some decent friends that day...and wasn't spoiled by the experience (thanks to HulkSmash for setting me strait on how REAL events are run).
I'd just call it money lost.
Sorry.

Life isn't fair. But wouldn't it be worse if Life were fair, and all of the really terrible things that happen to us were because we deserved them?

sadly you are pretty much screwed. you can work to try to get the money back but it will take months if ever. I didn't go to conquest last year due to how crappy the previous year was.

since you were looking for seattle, tshft is a great event run by a great organizer. the next event is in March. sadly, I can't make this one as I will be in Brazil for work.
