I was looking through BF's terrain selection and there seems to be a dearth of Eastern Front focused terrain. Just curious if any dakkaites know a good (cheap = bonus points!) source for Eastern Front buildings for FoW. My Tankovy just don't look right fighting on the desert terrain I currently have :(.

I can't help you with any manufacturers who are putting stuff out at the moment. But Battlefront used to sell a box with four rural Soviet buildings, fences, and half a dozen haystacks. The box is currently off the market, but according to Battlefront they'll be splitting the contents into two seperate boxes and rereleasing them in the not too distant future. There was also a very nice looking Russian church prominently displayed in the background during the V3 announcement video that Battlefront did.

So BF should have some Eastern Front buildings available "soon", though the exact time table is anyone's guess.

Paper Terrain?

I met the guy who makes these last year and picked up some generic French houses. Very nice stuff, easy to assemble, and cheap compared to resin/plastic buildings.

I saw this website posted on here last night:

http://www.kerrandking.co.uk/

The Byelorussian wooden buildings look really good, if a little pricey. You get what you pay for though i suppose.

Edit: The paper buildings infinate_array posted look awesome and much cheaper.

I did a review of the Paper Terrain buildings here:

PROSECUTOR: By now, there have been 34 casualties.

Thanks for the links everyone, lots of good stuff in all of them!

@Olympia: I hadn't even thought of using paper terrain, great review, and as one of the comments on your blog pointed out, it's totally reminiscent of the old card buildings that GW put out. I think I'm going to give it a shot and see how well it holds up.

That Kerr and King stuff looks really good.... Im so tempted to buy a city in a box.... Looks like quality stuff and a decent price too.... I just priced up 1 building with Airfix and it was $30!

Crazy!

Yeah i always assumed that airfix terrain would be as cheap as their 1/72 models. As nice as it looks, the price and brandname put me off a bit (as foolish as that may be). To be fair i've had no experience of their resin buildings though.

Two new small houses due out at the end of the month from Battlefront -

http://www.flamesofwar.com/Default.aspx?tabid=53&art_id=3153

They're brand new designs from Battlefront, although the basic shape (a rectangle with a removable roof) matches up with one of the buildings from the old rural Soviet building set that they used to sell. List is $26 for the pair.

They're also releasing a matching plowed field with fences box for the same price, though given how easy it is to get crop/plowed field stand-ins (suitably colored carpet scraps work fine, generally), the primary items of interest in the second box are the fences. The fields are just a little bonus.

Check out the Warstore under 15mm terrain. Lots of resin cast scenery. I am doing up a Stalingrad table using the 15mm Soviet city terrain. Already have 4-5 pieces, and am going for one more.

I did get the BF Soviet village/ town boxset. Very sturdy stuff, plus I like taking off the roofs and putting dudes inside.

The warstore looks like it stocks really nice terrain. I quite like the stuff on peterpig's too. I'm going to build an eastern front gaming board with my Grandad soon so I'm pricing up some pieces...
