SO my army is taking awhile to build so I am concentrating on blocks at a time and I came up with a 500 pt list out of the models I have. Is this list viable for 500 pts? what would you change?

Models I have:
Overlord
Deathmarks/immortals (2 boxes)
Ghost arks/doomsday ark (3x boxes)
Destroyer
warriors (2 boxes)
Anni barge

HQ:
OVerlord
warscythe
rez orb

Troops:
5X warriors
5x warriors
5x immortals
-Tesla

Fast attack:
scarabs x 4 bases

Heavy Support:
Annihilation Barge

Total: 495 pts

Not too much stuff I can add, but I believe it looks like a solid start. I played a 750 pts. list that included most of what you have in there (had a doomsday ark as well) and I did alright! I ran Gauss on the Immortals though!

I didnt have the scythe on the lord, and Id now take it every time!! If you do get caught in CC you will be glad you spent the points!

Im also a big fan of the annihilation barge! You can really do some heavy damage with thise TL teslas!

Get a few games in and let us know how theyre faring!! Im currently working on Daemons, so the crons are on the shelf.

Howdy GaussGuy!

I love little games of 40k, and I love necrons. The thing is, necrons like lots of points, so they can unlock all of their wacky hijinks, and get all the support units they crave, so it becomes an exciting experiment every time.

You have lots of cool options, and I know it can be tempting, but remember you want your units to either be doing a really common task very well, have many purposes that are necessary, or be cheaply filling a slot so you can quit worrying about playing by the rules.

Going light on the upgrades unless you are really getting a lot of mileage out of them is a great idea.
Also with necron's finding a way to get some aggression out of your weird and expensive HQ units is also a really good idea.

I'd say the RezOrb is only really worth it's price tag on bigger squads that you can be pretty sure you won't lose too quickly through getting hit by any kind of easy hard counter type of unit.

Scarabs are a great way to have some scary multipurpose units, Catacomb Barges, Wraiths, triarch stalkers and small squads with crypteks.
Tesla immortals are a unit that is very good at it's job, A warrior squad with an ark and a lord in it is also very good at sitting pretty on objectives. A cheap lord, or the Illuminor are great ways to disregard the HQ slot, and unlock potential in other units.

Have fun! Remember Necron's are great at exploiting holes in other player's armies, but have a lot of weaknesses themselves and have to really dedicate themselves to the tricks they want to pull. A good idea to get you going is trying to focus on a strength like armor abuse, making sure you have a powerful fast attack choice, or making as much use of your HQ as possible.

It's just a show, I should really just relax... It's just a show, I should really just relax... It's just a show, I should really just relax... It's just a show, I should really just relax...

The list isn't bad as it has loads of warriors I may try this when I have more warriors and scarabs.

@Duck0nQwaak - Don't think you can take Lord as a standalone HQ... Must take overlord first and that's far more expensive.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I would propose a deadly blob + 100pts you can spend on whatever you like:

HQ:
Overlord (90):
- RezOrb (30)
- Phaeron (20)

Troops:
20x Necron Warrior (260)

Total: 400pts for a 24" ranged, glance-you-to-death, advance and shoot, standup on 4+, blob of doom.
Let them come in your 12" range - will kill / demolish anything.

And you still have 100pts you can use to get for ex:
- 1x Annihilation Barge (90) and Warscythe (10)
- 5x Tomb blades
- add some cryoptecs of various kind to make it an Uberblob

How about that?

I prefer a bit of variety with my lists, also keep in mind you need to break up the 20 into 2 units unless you take some immortals to have the minimum troop allowance.

Well, didn't tought someone would still play with 2-6 troop req at 500 pts :/
If the 1HQ+2Troop is mandatory, Necrons are in trouble at small points games... Not as sucky as it was with 3ed codex, but still...
