Alright so heres the deal. Im a LONGTIME Xbox owner. Original Xbox and now 360. Very loyal to Microsoft with everything I purchase, computers, windows phone, you name it, I use Microsofts services and products. However, I am about to buying a PS3 at a discounted price. Its the one with Killzone 3 packaged in it. Im mostly getting it for the Blue Ray however I would like to have a couple games on it as well. Which games are must haves and which ones should I look out for? Thus far it looks like this is gonna be my list to begin with:

-Killzone 3
-Call of Duty 4 (just love it and dont have it for 360 anymore)
- Little Big Planet
- Uncharted 2

Killzone 2 is actually worth picking up for the campaign, even if you have Killzone 3.
God of War III / Any of the God of War HD Collections
Shadow of the Colossus/ICO HD Collection
Demon's Souls (still worth checking out even if you've played Dark Souls on the 360)
Valkyria Chronicles (assuming that you can tolerate scholoky JRPG writing to get to a decent Strategy Game)

I really enjoyed Infamous and Dead Rising. Probably didn't hurt that they were free though.

Just got Skyrim and it is pretty awesome as well (although I've heard that others have some issues on it).

I can see me being the same boat within the year, as all signs are pointing to Dynasty Warriors 8 being a PS3 exclusive, if it comes out outside Japan at all.

From chatting to my brother who has one, I'd suggest the following.

Uncharted 2 and 3
Metal Gear Solid 4
Ico/Shadow of the Colossus HD - from what he says and I've see others say, this has to be a must buy.
Disgaea 4

I would highly recommend Uncharted 2 & 3. They're both amazing games.

I keep hearing about the Resistance series. What is it about and such? Its an FPS correct?

Yeah, it's an FPS but in all honesty they are not that great. The multiplayer on R2 is awesome but the campaign on all of the games is pretty poor.
You would be better off with Killzone 2/3 tbh. As for other games, I would highly recommend GT5, although that all depends. What kind of games do you enjoy playing? Dungeon Siege 3 is quality and really quite cheap now (picked my copy up for £4!), and also I would recommend God Of War 1/2. They are available on a single disk now, remastered in HD and they are both epic in the extreme!

I do enjoy action games and shooters. Ive got the racing genre filled out with Forza 4 though for 360. The God of War games look pretty awesome though.

I would also agree with Killzone 2&3. The Resistance series is really good. I'd also recommend the Uncharted series...Yeah, the first isn't near as good as 2 or 3, but still worth playing. And Transformers: War for Cybertron

Yes! Play God of War! Those are quite enjoyable, even if they're only good for 1-2 play throughs.

I'd say that every PS3 owner should play the following games:

The Uncharted Series (1, 2, and 3. The games are fun, the action is great, and the story and voice acting make it feel very much like being in a movie).
Infamous 1 & 2 (Excellent games).
Heavenly Sword (If God of War interests you, give Heavenly Sword a try. It's very God of War like, the characters and storyline are pretty good, and the face capture technology they used for the actors actually makes a significant difference. Also, Andy Serkis does a solid performance in it.)

I would like to put in an honorable mention for a game you can pick up from the Playstation Network for about $5-$6, Flower. It is a quiet, calming, peaceful game that is also reasonably fun. It's nice to fire up for 10-15 minutes and just play.

Aside from those, play whatever tickles your fancy. These days I pretty much exclusively game on the PS3. I would be dusting off the old 360 here in a bit for Mass Effect 3, but it looks like it'll be releasing for PS3.

Another count to Uncharted 2 & 3 (not so much 3 on my part because I found it painfully short for a storymode). Burnout Paradise is pretty good if you want a racing/accident-causing game, although I'd personally say try and get Flatout 2 for accident-causing; it does it very well

I took the same. And i can seriusly recomend InFamous2 that game is just pure awesome!

But OP. If you want games that you can't play on your xbox, the InFamous is a sure pick, and God of War series. Pretty sweet Hack & Slash game.

And good luck with your playstation 3. I was like you one time. Xbox guy all the way, until i got my hands on a Playstation 3 and i seriusly love that machine! I seriusly haven't seen my xbox in ages now

And another great thing about what makes playstation great is the program called VidZone you can download. I use my playstation for a media center now. Pretty god at party' too

Weirdly i enjoyed the story mode in Resistance 2, it had an old school challenge to it. It was incredibly unforgiving but it felt like an achievement finishing it. I've heard 3 is pretty awesome.

Dont have a ps3 anymore.

You know, if youre going to get a Playstation 3, and all that free internet, I would HIGHLY recdomman the game MAG. 256 players all going at it at the same time with APC, Air and Artillery support all assisting.

Also some other good games to look at:

Little Big Planet if you want a family style game
The Jak HD 3D Collection just released for again for PS3. (3 Great games for 40 bucks, all remastered, originally from PS2, yes please!)
Infamous, of course
Uncharted series (Duh)
Space Marine (Maybe, on second thought, scratch that, thats better for PC)
Battlefield, stuff comes out earlier on Playstation, but wth

Needless to say, you'll have fun, and if you ever get to play Uncharted 3 in 3D, I can guarantee this will happen...
