When it comes to working out victory points, and you have managed to get a weapon destroyed on a vehicle for example a vindicator do you get half points for the vehicle at the end of the game.

I'm not 100% sure what the RAW says on this one. However at GT's Local tournies and the like damaged vehicles, and units under 50% have given 1/2 Victory points.

for example if happened to me in a game I played in a tournament, my opponent said that you only get half points for a destroyed or imnobilised vehicle.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Have you got a rulebook? The answer is very clearly written int here.

This forum isnt meant to be a replacement for a rulebook, so if, having read the relevant rules you still have queries, please come back and ask.

If you get a destroyed, you'd get full.

Just sayin, a weapon destroyed or Immobilized may result in half pts. I really have no idea what the BGB says on this one, as the GT's and Local tournies use the same scoring.

I'd look for ya but the BGB is in the bathroom at my house, about 23 miles away >.<

I believe immobilized is half points, wrecked and explodes is full.

Weapon destroyed gets you nothing.

Of course this might be wrong, RTFM for the actual rule(P108) and never take what you hear on the internet at face value.

What isnt clearly written? Have you suffered a damaged result - if you are immobilised, yes. If you have lost a weapon, yes

I'm afraid it is. Really very clearly, in fact.

Since the answer has already been given, I might as well say where it is: Page 300 of the BRB under "Units at half strength", last sentence of the first paragraph.

"In the case of vehicles, they are worth half their points cost in VPs if they are suffering from the effects of any Damaged result at the end of the game."

Is 'Weapon Destroyed' a Damaged result? Let's check the damage table... "3 - Damaged - Weapon Destroyed". Yes, it's a Damaged result, so worth half points in VPs.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

That also includes shaken and stunned results too.

False. Shaken and Stunned are not Damaged or Destroyed results. Read the chart on page 61.

What? Thats dumb.

At least Victory Points got pretty much tossed out in 5th and now I know why.

They are still used in most tournaments, as well as some friendly games when they want to see how close the game was.

I have been to exactly 0 tournaments where Victory Points were used. I have been to a few so it not like I have been to a poor selection.

All the tournaments i've been to used VPs as a secondary scoring system to decide Tournament Point ties (I dislike how it works, since it means that my Eldar will generally come second if I ever tie 1st on TPs, even if I dominated my games), so I guess it's just one of those things.

But the opposite is true for armies like DE where they offer up so many kill points. Victory points seems more balanced since everyone has the same number out there and some armies don't have as many KP as others.

No, which is why they weere removed as the primary mission in 5th

VP OVERWHELMINGLY encourages you to take MSU, spammy armies. So do objective missions. KP are designed as a balance to objectives, whereas elite armies would suffer even more under a VP and objectives mission.
