Can i have 2 HQs in the same unit on deployment? I was thinking about a Shrike + Chaplain w/ jump pack + assault marines so I could infiltrate them in and assault on turn 1 with Shrike, and utilize the chaplains liturgies of battle to re-roll any failed rolls to hit. Also, would this even be practical. My thought process was to try and eliminate an entire enemy unit in the opening moments of the game but I'm still new so the idea could be crazy for all I know.

That brings up another question, can re-rolls stack? Example, Lightning Claws + Digital Weapon?

You can have multiple SC's attached to the same unit.

I'm not sure of your proposed unit would be viable, as I don't play marines.

You only ever get one reroll of the dice, regardless of how many things might grant one.

The IC rules in the main rulebook allow for ICs to join units, and nothing forbids having more than one join the same unit. Go ahead and try that combo in a game - then you'll know how good or not it is. ;-)

Stacking rerolls? Sorry, but no - a dice roll can only be rerolled once according to the BRB (pg 2 - re-rolls and roll-offs).

I'm not overly familiar with the Space marines codex, but you can definitely have both HQ's in one unit, but do both of them have the scout special rule alreadyl? if not, the squad loses the special rule once they join.

The infiltration is a special rule of Shrike. He, and his unit, are allowed to infiltrate.

As for the viability, yes you can do this and it's a viable tactic. However, you want to be sure to NOT kill the unit you are charging in one turn, if so... you lose Shrike, the Chap, and the AM due to being in the middle of the enemy. If I were to run this, I would put Shrike, a Chap, and 5 basic AM with a PF. Full squads, or Vanguard's, would be overkill and as I said, you want to be stuck in assault for at least 2 turns.

Earlier posters are correct; but I would like to add 1 note:

Such a deployment would be illegal in "Dawn of War" scenarios.

While the whole deployed unit is 1 unit; you are still deploying 2 HQ units(not to mention the Assault marines are fast attack which can never be deployed pre-game in DOW).

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
