Well I am starting my first "real" army, which is the Crimson Fist SM Chapter. I do not have the new SM codex (plan to buy it soon) or the newest rulebook (I only have 3rd & 4th ed). As such, I will need help with points and stuff.

This is very difficult to read, you should try to put in spaces between different units or something.
That being said, scouts can be very useful when applied properly.

Buy a codex and then write a list. You need rhinos or razorbacks, buy the razorback boxes to do this as you can keep the lid loose.
Some wargear could be improved on your models, the only easy change is put your ML into your dev. squad if you plan on using it.
The assault squad is not a very good choice.
I would recommend getting a librarian as it is just a no nonsense HQ which can make lists work.

Crimson fists usually take Pedro their chapter master.
He is only worth it if you take 3 squads of sternguard and back away from troop choices.

175 Pedro

200 10 scouts with sniper rifles, Telion, ML or heavy bolter
100 sniper rifles, cloaks, ML

205 6 sternguard with rhino, 2 meltas
205 6 sternguard with rhino, 2 meltas
235 6 sternguard with rhino, 4 combimeltas, 2 heavy flamers

120 pred with las/auto
120 pred with las/auto
120 pred with las/auto

Is something like the norm. Obviously you do not have to take pedro and the list would look completely different. Also you can rewrite the list with your models, so 2 dev. squads one full tactical squad foot slogging instead of preds and one troop choice.

Okay, I could probably do this. Do you think I should get the one with Power Sword, Power Axe, or Staff and Book?
I also changed my second tactical squad to include a plasma pistol with the sergeant.
I don't really want to add Kantor (Although he is really awesome) because I want to stay with my troops and have a single sternguard. I also added a Landspeeder.

100 Librarian use gate and nullzone.
Troops
225 tactical squad with ML, flamer, lascannon, meltabombs and razorback.

175 tactical squad with MM and melta.
Fast
135 Bikes with meltabombs
Elite
200 termies

105 Dread
Heavy
145 dev. squad with plasma cannon, ML and heavy bolter.

For 1085. It isn't great but gives you are start. The librarian teleports your foot slogging tactical squad. Marines work better at higher points totals.
Keep the librarian plain.
