After a quick search of the forum, I found a couple of references to this in other discussions, but not as a central topic with group consensus.

Can a unit of 2 Canoptek spyders add one scarab to each of two separate scarab swarms?

After carefully reading p46 of the necron codex and checking the new FAQ, I would say yes, given the following circumstances.

The spyder models (A and B) are each within 6" of the respective Scarab swarm units (1 and 2 ) they are trying to add to.

so... 11111 ------6"------A--2"--B----6"----------22222 = good

and 11111 ------6"------A--2"--B = bad
____22222 -------8"-------------

YEs. Each spider just has to be within 6" of a scarab unit. It isnt shooting in any way shape or form

the "splitting fire" in the title was a joke
