I keep going back to the Canadian GW online store and in the Tyranid HQ section there is no Hive Tyrant.

What Does this mean? Is there a chance they are making a new model?

If rumours are true, we're finally getting the Tyranid second wave next month. Included will be a Hive Tyrant with wing and Swarmlord upgrades on the sprue.

Granted, rumour sources are saying the kit exists and will be released, but we won't get all of the kits next month.

But since they've pulled the Hive Tyrant from the US and Canadian online stores, it's a good bet that the plastic Tyrant is one of next months models.

It's also rumoured to cost as much as a Land Raider, so...

I've got 3 Tyrants, including a Winged one, and a Swarmlord. It would have to be a damn awesome model to have me replace them.

I'm still wondering if we really are going to get a new Tyrant kit. I have my doubts.

The fact that now two webstores have taken the model down is a bit telling. They're likely in stock rundown, and those two countries ran out first. They wouldn't leave an entire army without a purchaseable HQ choice. That would be plain dumb. Beyond GW dumb.

The way they get me to buy a plastic Tyrant is have it look like the current Tyrant, but with a bit of poseability and maybe a bit bulkier. The current look is great. But they'll have to do something fantastic with the wings to make me use one over my Forgeworld winged Tyrant.

However, multiple Tyrants is always useful. With different weapon loadouts, you get a bit of choice while setting up the army. And when you play Apocalypse, you get multiple Tyrants, which is always fun.

A friend of mine made his using the LotR balrog. Pretty sweet looking model.

GW Europe still has plenty of stock. But when WD is released in a week, we will know if a plastic Hive tyrant is part of the rumoured Tyranids 2nd wave for February.

So we might as well buy the Forge World one for the prices GW is going to charge. Yeesh. With the current market, that would be fifty cents cheaper than Land Raider prices.

As for it being out of stock, so many times when something is out of stock it is said in Red Letters, Out of Order.

So I don't believe it's just out of stock. Something is more to it. Otherwise when the Finecast was sold out in Canada, they would have taken the Hive Guard down, but they didn't it was left up.

I use Forgeworld Tyrants anyway (it's already cheaper for Australians to order a Winged Tyrant than buy a GW Tyrant). However, I was planning on grabbing the GW Tyrant to use as a Swarmlord because it's bigger than the Forgeworld Tyrants, and would be a good way to differentiate between the Swarmlord and standard Tyrants.

So it it looks like the current Tyrant, and includes the Swarmlord options, I'll grab one purely because that's what I want my Swarmlord to look like anyway. It also gives me plenty of weapon arms to use on my Forgeworld Tyrants.

1.) Haven't heard that it will cost as much as a Land Raider and doubt it.
2.) Have heard that it might be bigger than the current GW model and perhaps has more options. So it might be more expensive than the current one.
3.) I don't like the 3rd edition look of the Forge World models with their giant heads.

edit - got that wrong. The rumoured price band is the Dreadknight price, which is a price drop from the current finecast model.

Purely subjective. With the current fluff of Warriors being bred from the same DNA batch as the Tyrant leading them, it makes sense they'd look similar. With the fluff for the Swarmlord saying 'the Swarm lord is to a Hive Tyrant what a Hive Tyrant is to a Termagant' it makes sense they'd look different. IMO making it just a super Hive Tyrant was lazy.

This is really exciting stuff if it is true. About time GW showed some love to the Tyranids!

Would have to be pretty sweet... Right now i have 1 tyrant with fully magnatizable arms for guns/swords/whips/claws and spots for wings w/ magnets so right now i can run any variant of the hive tyrant including the swarmlord since I bought the swords from secret weapon miniatures... ( http://www.secretweaponminiatures.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=47_49&products_id=166 , they are awesome!)

If they released another with a very good looking swarmlord adaptation, id consider buying it to have a dedicated swarmlord.
