Hello.
I'm primarily a 40k/WHFB player and was wondering if any of you on here knew of a good, preferably inexpensive line of American Civil War minis, hopefully with rules, etc. I'm completely new to historical wargaming, and tried a Google search and whatnot but there's a lot of random sellers, etc. I'd prefer if the models were sold in plastic regiment sets, with scale similar to Warhammer. (as that what size all my terrain is.) unpainted as well is preferable.

Any information or general pointing in the right direction is appreciated!

Easy. Perry ACW.

36 miniatures, 4 flags, and a simple ruleset for $30 - or cheaper, if you order from Warlord Games. They also sell plastic Cavalry and Zouves, with a range of metal miniatures for more specific stuff.

I'm using Perry for my 28mm Napoleonics armies, using the Black Powder ruleset, which can be easily be adapted for American Civil War battles. In fact, with a Commander mini, you can have 3 'units' of 12 (normally a 'regular' unit is 24 miniatures, but you can adjust this to whatever you want in Black powder) which makes up a decent brigade.

In the states i'm pretty sure thewarstore carries these as well as some of the perry' metal acw line.

As for rules Black Powder is supposed to be rather good; I haven't played it myself though.

If you're looking for more individual, skirmish combat, 2 boxes of Perry minis (1 Confederate, 1 Union), and the Sharp Practice ruleset with Terrible Sharp Sword supplement from TooFatLardies is all you'll need to play.

For rules we use 'Bull Run to Gettysburg' and 'Brother Against Brother' for skirmish.

Dont forget Redoubt Miniatures too... They have a superb ACW range...

Here are my Rebs containing Perry, Foundry, Redoubt, Renegade and Sash & Sabre...

a easy rule set to start with is Fire and Fury it will help you get into the Horse and Musket era mind set. Also old glory miniatures is where me and my dad bought a majority of our minis.

We shall not stop until all know the greater good.
