I have been looking for a different approach to GKs besides the common builds. Here is something I came up with.

HQ

GM Mordrak w/ 5 Ghosts - 400

Librarian - 190
3 skulls
shrouding
sanctuary
might of titan
warp rift
summoning

Troops

1x10 Terminators -450
2 psycannons
2 hammers -

2x10 Strike Squad - 230 (460 for both)
2psycannons per squad
1 hammer per squad

Elites

1x5 Paladins - 335
hammer + psycannon
halberd
halberd + psycannon
warding stave
sword

This leaves me with 165 points. I am thinking maybe a vindicare and then blowing the remaining couple of points on some master crafting of gear or picking up a couple more paladins.

Mordrak has Grand Strategy so I could potentially make the paladins score if needed, give counter attack to some units (which kicks ass!), reroll some 1's to wound, or even scout.

A cool list, I like the drop theme. I don't know how well a Vindicare would work with the rest of the list, but I haven't really got any suggestions for what else you could spent the points on either.

Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee.

I really like this list because it has a relatively high number of bodies (for GK of course), and is not reliant on heavy support to carry it.

Since it looks like you may be planning on deepstriking, because you have no transports, you might want to consider a teleport homer on your librarian. This would allow for you to attach libby to Mordraks squad, then a part of your force does not have to worry about scattering when they come close to assist his squad.

I know you plan to use servo skulls for deepstriking but they can be underwhelming and any fast list will rid of them by turn 2 or 3.

Regarding the extra points, I would add to your paladin squad. Keep the theme of your list and play to its synergy as a deepstriking list. I assume that's what this is as you have no transports. More paladins is more bodies, and will help this list a lot more than the vindicare will. He will be singled out as he is a lone unit, and the only single man unit( the same way a single vehicle would take target priority). So yes, go with the paladins.

This list is out of the norm and I think that it can still be quite fun and semi-competitive. I hope these suggestions help.

The more I considered it the more I was leaning toward a couple more paladins. At 1500 I ran a list like this minus the terminator squad and it has the potential to be quite overwhelming. I'm willing to bet that against most people Mordrak will be too much too handle. Not true against more experienced players.

The Mordrak trick becomes less powerful the more you use it. The first time you play your opponent, it will catch him off guard.

If are using it frequently he will adapt to it, then the possiblity is that Mordrak and his knights will be facing a lot of firepower on first turn.

If you play many different players then this list could be extremely fun for a while, I'd just recommend against using Mordrak every game.

You could also opt to use a normal GM in place of him and buy more normal termies as troops. This way you can keep the deepstrike element but aren't forced into relying on Mordrak every game.
