It's casual play so the extra 5 okay. I've never played with sternguards before and they seem pretty legit so any help on them would be good. So the idea is to have the sternguards and the ironclad drop in with the scouts scouting while the tac marines move up the board to get objectives and what not and the landspeeders deep strike. Should I give the scouts the teleport homer? Let me know what you guys think. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

HF/MM speeders are liked as they can do any job required. Though MM/MM is obviously killer.

The scouts are not doing much for you. Drop pods do not need homers, the speeders will drop any where on the battlefield where you need them so probably not by a homer.

melta, combimelta, ML is a good combo to get a double shot at the first mech you come across.

Drop pods are weird things. If you drop pod a dread it will be in melta distance and die second turn. This is fine if it takes out a tank or something cool. An AoBR dread with heavy flamer does this role well. An ironclad is expensive and less effective when landing. In any case this expensive but can work.
Then the sternguard may not be so killy. I would take meltas, combimeltas and even heavy flamers just in case there is no mech on the table in the first turn. Obviously they combat squad on arrival in any combo. this is expensive but can work.
So AoBR dread and 10 well equipped sternguard in drop pods will be ok, drop the dread if the sternguard can not get close to do damage. This is a risk but who cares.

You want some long range threat, so after the debate probably typhoons would be a good idea just to support the drop pods at the far away units.

Wow, AoBR dread and scouts afford most of the changes I love it when this happens with replies

Make drop pod units cheaper as they are basically sacrificial de-meching units
