Subject: Starting FoW and Have Some Questions

I am starting a British Rifle Company from the Fortress Europe book. I have run into a snag with the army building both model wise and on paper.
How many individuals are placed on each base?
How many of those bases are in a squad/platoon?
Is there a way to distinguish what individual model is?
I bought a rifle company and it says it has a bunch of different squads but I can't figure out what figures go to what squad.
Thank you for any help.

At the beginning of your army brief book (Festung Europe), it should give a break down of what goes onto each type of stand.
Your Coy HQ will be two small bases of three models each(Coy commander and coy 2i/c. The other two guys per base maybe bagpipers, but are just usually random dudes.). These troops represent yourself on the field, and they should be easily distinguisgable fromt he rest
Usually British rifle pls have a command stand (small base.) with a Cmdr and two other troops for a total of three. This will be the command rifle/ MG Team.
You will next have a PIAT team of two bases mounted on another small stand. You should be able to pick out the dude with the PIAT launcher and another fella lugging his ammo.
The last small base you will use in a pl is the light mortar team. Again, they are pretty easy to pick out; light mortar and ammo carrier.
last is six medium size bases of rifle/ MG teams. It's five to a base for a total of 30 infantry, but if your looking to save some troops for other units, try going with four to a base. I go with the full amount myself.
Do you have the box? it should be on the back of it, showing pictures of each type.

So would each rifle team consist of 2 bases since it shows a total of 10 infantry under each rifle squad?

Yes. A Pl is broken down into a Pl HQ w/ support weapons, and three rifle sections. So two bases of rifle/ MG per section.
The boxset provides two platoons worth of inf. if I remember correctly.

Thank you Matt for your help and quick replies.
As far as points wise, does the points listed count as the whole platoon (ie 3 Rifle Squads..... 145 points) or per squad?

No, that will be for the whole Pl.
If you need a hand with any list building (Unsure of points, size of foce, etc...), send me an email or a PM.
I am on my second year back paying FoW. Play 2. & 5. German SS and a Canadian 2nd Inf. Div. Inf. Coy.

Each 10 man squad consists of 2 bases (on a related note, 12 man squads are composed of three bases).
Remember that "Team" is a technical term in Flames of War, and each base is a Team.

Some sections (I'm a Canadain soldier, and it's a British army, so .) maybe only eight strong, which is perfectly game legal. One of my opponents uses only eight man sections for German Infantry bases, more to save the additional troops I think then anything.
If in any doubt, you can also check battlefronts online store and see the porducts assembled and painted.
