When moving do units have to move in a straight line?

Can you move ("bend") around obstacles and other units?

Can you move forward 3" and then back 3" or a deviation thereof?

Do jetbikes/jumpackers have to move in straight lines?

Can a jump pack unit jump onto the roof of a bunker and then use the rest of their movement to descent down one level into it (using a hatch in the roof).
Similarily if they land on the top level or a 3 storey ruin can they move down levels after the jump?

Thanks.

No.

Yes.

Yes, but note, that vehicles will count as having been stationary for purposes of being hit in assault.

No.

No, as only Infantry are allowed to enter buildings (pg 79)
Similarly if they land on the top level or a 3 story ruin can they move down levels after the jump?

Yes, however since ruins are difficult terrain, they will take a dangerous terrain test.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

By "Does X have to move in straight lines" do you mean 'do I have to measure their movement path in straight lines'?

Purely translated the answer to your question is no. But if you mean "if a unit goes around something do I have to measure around the thing (the actual path of the unit) or can I measure in a straight line from A (where the unit started) to B (where the unit ended)", then its the actual path of the unit.

The X question related to the actual path, rather than measuring through the terrain piece

Thanks peeps.

Keep in mind that charging does require a straight line.

Charging requires a straight line (unless there is impassible terrain in which you get to angle it a bit) for the first model moved, other models can move how they like.

Edit: Clarified the movement.

Shortest possible route (what the assault rules require) is not always a straight line.

I stand corrected on both counts.
